What’s up everyone!
First, let me start by saying that I’ve been a professional bullsh*tter and procrastinator when it came to building niche sites this year (Well... they say the first step is admitting). I had a few sites I was working on, but never really placed enough time and effort into them to see a profit.
Now It’s time to lock-in and make this work, as I’ve become “Sick and Tired of being Sick and Tired.” We’re coming up to October, and I want to finish the last quarter of the year with a BANG! Hopefully, this niche site journey will give me the motivation and push needed to move the bar.
For about the past 9 months I’ve been binge-watching youtube videos, reading courses, browsing this forum, and picking a lot of brains in my quest of learning SEO; taking good notes along the way. Now it's time to put the plan into action.
Goal - My goal is to reach $10/day consistently. I will utilize Amazon Associates and Google Adsense for monetization. Once a site meets the goal of $10/day, I will then start the process over again with a new site; while creating a post per week to the previous sites which have already met/exceeded the goal. I plan to rinse and repeat this process to meet the ultimate goal of $100/day.
Niche - The first site will be in the DIY niche. I wanted my first journey site’s niche to be broad, yet focused. And have flexibility as I’m sure there will be hiccups and fails along the journey. This will allow me to shift into sub-niches if need be.
Domain - I had purchased an expired domain about 6 months ago that I had stumbled upon by accident while reading an article on one of my favorite blogs (broken link in the article). The domain metrics are DA (14), PA (22), and Ref Domains (78). I don’t have any experience with expired domains, but hopefully, that is enough to expedite or eliminate the sandbox process.
Hosting - I have a current hosting plan on Siteground which allows me to add unlimited websites. I’ll be using that account for this site.
Theme - Free Astra Theme with the Elementor page builder. I’ve become pretty good at using Elementor.
Keyword Research - There’s been a lot of talk on this forum recently about the Keyword Golden Ratio for finding long-tail keywords. For those who don’t know, the Keyword Golden Ratio (KGR) is a strategy founded by Doug Cunnington, which identifies underserved keywords on the internet. Essentially, these keywords can be ranked within the first page without the need for backlinks.
Using KW finder, I’ve been able to gather a handful of long-tail KGR compliant keywords. Most keywords have buying intent, “Best of, Comparison, and Product Reviews.” I’m going to start this blog by using these KWs before moving on to more difficult ranking KWs with higher search volume. Keep in mind, the KW search volume range between 0 - 250 searches per month (per KW Finder). So it will be important to create many of these posts to start seeing good traffic flow to the site.
Timeline - I went through Income School’s Project 24 course and being brutally honest, it’s probably the most novice SEO course on the market. You’re much better off investing a few hours per week of your time and dive into the BHW threads. However, there was a huge take away from the course; there 60 step outline. My greatest areas of opportunity are my organizational skills, time management, and persistence. The 60 step outline caught my attention because it will help tackle some of my weaknesses. Besides, I know success lies behind those who are consistent with article posting.
I’m going to use a variation of Income School’s 60 step system for article posting.
Article Writing - I’ve read a post where @Sherb gave someone advice on how to effectively allocate their limited budget to an Amazon affiliate site. I’m going to take his advice and apply it towards my niche site. He advised structuring broad subjects into “topic clusters.” The topic clusters will consist of:
I’m going to start off by using iWriter for my content creation, but am looking for a content writer in the BHW marketplace who can deliver great content within a reasonable time frame.
On-page SEO - I’m going to follow the on-page SEO steps outlined on Brian Dean’s Backlinko site. I’m not going to link the page here, but you can search “Backlinko On Page SEO” on G and it should be the first result.
Off-page SEO - The expired domain I’m using already has a pretty good anchor text profile on the homepage (53% Branded, 29% Generic & Naked, 15% URL, 3% No Anchor).
I’m going to add some social signals and use @Rachmaninoff link building list for added diversity https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/2019-link-building-list-for-diversity.1112150/.
I will provide my Off-Page SEO strategy once I get some articles uploaded.
Getting Traffic - Organic Traffic (SEO) and Pinterest will be my focus on attracting traffic to the site. Each article will have Pinterest banners... I’m going to lay out a more detailed Pinterest strategy as the articles start pouring in.

2nd Site Incubation
I’m also starting the process of prepping the 2nd site. I’ll be using an expired domain which was acquired from a friend that had owned a business a few years back, but had to shut down for personal reasons. I love this domain as it ties directly to the niche (not emd, but niche related). I’m going to go through the same steps above, but will only add one 3000 word buyers guide article to the site this month. Social signals and diversity links will be added as well. I want the site to age and “bake” on the SERPS while working to meet my 1st site’s goal of $10/day. No follow-ups will be provided until it’s time to bust this site’s cherry!
