[Journal/Method/spoonfeed] The 'Crashed Challenge' 30 Days to Money...

I want to start doing this challenge but I'm not sure on the domain part.I have no keyword research knowledge whatsoever and I'm thinking what would be best to do?Should I buy a keyword from someone here at BHW and get a domain after or should I just get a domain related to something I like?I'm a big movie buff and football(soccer) fan as well so the ideas are pretty limited.Any thoughts on this?
Also,if this has been already discussed before I apologize.

As far as i am aware crashed is taking a relaxed approach to keyword research. So i would say just start a site about something you are comfortable with and see where it takes you.

For a domain just use something memorable or self explanatory and if you look in crasheds last post i think he is using statspress to get his keyword information and writing posts accordingly

Good luck on the challenge

In addition to writing articles based on search terms through google, would you advise to also write articles based on search terms through Yahoo and Bing?

Im sure it wouldn't hurt to utilize data you have from yahoo and bing aswell as google.

How do you get your list of keywords from Yahoo and Bing?

I would also need Dogpile and Excite as I am showing up on these too.

In Statpress V it tells you under Last Search Terms. To the right of the search term it tells you which search engine the traffic came from.

That's if the person actually clicks on the search engine result and visits your page. But in Google webmaster tools it tells you what the person searched for and what google page your site appeared on. Regardless if the visitor clicked on it.

Quite a few of those search terms appeared on page 4 - so no clicks - if i make a couple of posts for each etc and get those to page one then I might get their click throughs.

Ok, well the backend to the script is ready, it does need a lil bit more work on the frontend and also for my designer to go over it... But it means I can now finish up Day 13 for you guys! :D

In terms of keywords, I am sure I meantioned google webmaster tools... Though it may have been in answer to an email or skype or PM if it's not in the posts somewhere. Definately a good idea though!

hey guys and crashed,

i was wondering if you guys can give me advice. the main goal of my site is to make money. now, i've been contacted by someone on twitter saying that he can feature an article of mine if i do the same for him. credits and links are given both ways. i looked him up and his site doesn't seem to have too much traffic with perhaps one post every two weeks and hardly any comments. his site has been up for 2 years, 19 days with an alexa rating of 6mil. google backlinks and page rank = 0, yahoo backlink is 6 with 4 outbound links.

i'm not too familiar with the stats and what they mean so i was wondering what you guys think. his twitter page has 34 followers.

thanks for any advice you guys could give!

Nah, id say dont go for it, the only one that will gain anything is him, as your site is more higher profile than his. i mean fine, you will get a free article out of it, but you'll have to write one back for him anyway.

Just keep your site yours for now :)

thanks for the great thread. im looking for some advice here.
i have what i think are a good set of keywords. ill call it a niche of a niche of a niche, where those third generation niche's (my target keywords) have several distinct variations <---thats what i want to go after.
ex: flowers>roses>red roses, white roses, green roses

so my question is, should i make 3 different sites, 1 for red roses, 1 for white roses and 1 for green roses?
or is it better to make one site and use subdomains targeting each color rose?

also, if it makes a difference i have more than 3 keyword targets here. it actually could be up to 15 if my research is good

I would personally make only one website... you would have a LOT of information on a unique website and that's a good thing. If you dissipate your information too much, it will become useless.

thanks. the concern i have with this is not being able to have "redroses" in my domain name. i could still put it in my subdomain but should i be concerned about this slowing down my serps progress? or does being able to put 15 times more information onto one single site outweigh this?

Thanks for the advice! I really appreciate the feedback. I really do think they are going to use my site to get visitors but I don't think it's to their profit. They don't have ads or are offering any services on their site. After some thought, I think I'm going to accept it though just for the experience of working with another site. When I feel lazy, I can just use one of their posts instead of thinking about a topic to blog about. Who knows, maybe they'll ask me to help them with traffic or ads in the future and i can sneak in a fee ;)

But thanks again leelad00! Two heads are better than one =D

Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think you would have a generic domain name related to all 15 keywords and then do a post for each keyword. As far as seo goes, the keyword won't be in the main domain name, but it will appear in the url of the post itself.

Yep what nightxowl said up there ^ regarding the roses... I hate subdomains... They just scream spam :D

Made me $1 through adsense. Nothing yet through MaxBounty, but they don't have too many offers for my niche. The only ones they have are ones where the referral has to purchase something first.
