[Journal] From Nothing To Something

Hey what's up everyone. As you probably can see and may have guessed, I'm pretty much a nobody at the moment. I'm just a normal guy who has recently picked up quality article writing to earn money for investments. My goal is liveable income (which I set at $55,000 a year) without having to work 6 years from now. This means that any money that I make via my article writing will be going towards any investments that will get me one step closer to this.

Day 1: I'm starting off with $116.45 in my paypal from articles I've written over the past two days (including today). Tomorrow I'll try and make my full $200 and put it towards my first joint venture.
Day 2 Morning: I'm starting up today in attempt to find as many independent jobs as I can. My goal is $200 total in my paypal by the end of the day. It's only a matter of time before I make my own investment. EDIT: I just got my first job on e-lance. I'll be completing it today to add another $100, along with whatever I can make tonight as well. Aiming for $150 today!

Currently I'm just jumping around from job to job, whoever offers me work. I offer a 10-15 minute turnaround per 500 words on all of my articles, and can write on almost any subject. This tends to attract business my way and I'm definitely not just talking myself up. I've had a lot of satisfied clients thus far and will always keep it that way.

I'm waiting for textbroker to accept my sample article so I can start doing work there mainly. They have good rates and consistent work.

Are you on Odesk as well? I think its pretty good for writing jobs (a lot of competition tho) or maybe you can start a BST thread on these forums? That will gain you maximum exposure.
 
Can't start a BST yet, but I will when I'm able to. I don't use Odesk but I've tried elance with no luck. :/
 
Writing is a good way to get some fund, just be careful not to take on too much.. You'll burn out quick.. Taking all those articles and putting them up with adsense will most certainly earn you more over time per article then selling the upfront also.
 
Just keep your head up man, and stay focused.
Oh, and you said that earned $116 in two days?
That's $50 a day. That's really good for a "nobody"
Just keep doing what you're doing, but scale it up,
do extra jobs, and work harder. I will check up on this
thread from time to time, Goodluck brother! :)
 
Mono: I know what you mean. My idea is to keep my eye on the prize. No matter how burnt I get, I won't release my work load. Gotta think of how good of money I'm making. I only sell articles, I don't actually use them or put them up anywhere in any way YET.

Mojo: That's my plan. I need to get as many jobs as possible, just waiting on textbroker. Wish they were quicker.. the more jobs the better.

Hi new movies, I too am a brand new article writer. I just recently got my first job on elance and will be doing that over the course of 5 hours for $100 total.

While yes, starting as a new writer is hard, don't be discouraged. Offer things that others can't, like articles actually written by someone whos main language is English, and with a very quick turnaround.

If you feel like you're limited to not knowing a lot about an article, google it. That being said, DON'T spin the article, only research a little about it so you have an idea of what you're talking about.

A lot of people who hire article writers are simply looking for content to be written that fits their page, and could care less if it's 100% accurate. That being said, that doesn't mean make your article senseless in any means. Always stay truthful to the subject you're writing about.

And don't rush! The difference between rushing and getting it done in 15 minutes as opposed to taking your time and perfecting it is that, with the latter, you will attract more business by word of mouth.

I guess to answer your question, I got a lucky start. I'm now flying around by word of mouth and I'm very thankful.

I'm unable to edit my original thread's post, so I'll have to post here.

Day 2: I was afraid that I wasn't going to get a job to do today, no one really needed articles and textbroker still hasn't approved my sample article. At about 11 PM tonight (last night?) I got an order for TWO 4000 WORD STORIES. I finished one of them in about 3 hours and the other one I will be finishing tomorrow. Made a whopping $115 on that, on top of a $5 article and $20 from fiverr. A total of $140 today. Things are going very well and I'm slowly reaching my goals. Only time will tell.

Loving your progress so far man. I'm an article writer myself. Wishing you the best of luck! :) Oh and on Elance it's all about rating. Once those first couple five-stars come in you'll be good to go and you'll have no problem scoring clients.
 
Day 3: Morning: Interestingly enough I did not end up writing one of the two stories which I expected to write. That being said, I am now up to $180 total, making about $90 last night. That's not bad but not, in my eyes, good either. I have a strict quota set for myself of $100 at the minimum. I will make sure I keep it or die trying.

The buyer very much liked the quality of the story I sent.
I'm going to try and e-mail textbroker to see if I can get my sample article approved any quicker. The sooner I can get it approved, the sooner I can have AS MUCH WORK as I want.
