Yes, I'm adding another journal thread to BHW. I hope mine will turn out a little better than most of the ones I've seen on here though. I'll try not to ramble on too much, so lets get started:

I've done some blackhat methods in the past that have netted me $700+ a day. However, like most blackhat methods, mine were extremely up and down. Some days I would make hundreds and other days I would make absolutely nothing. Since I can only spend a limited amount of time doing IM per day, that doesn't really fit into my lifestyle. So I'm going the route of trying to find something more stable and that can be at least semi-automated.

My initial goal is only $30 a day. I know thats not the usual $5k a day most journals are written about, but I'm fine with baby steps at this point. $30 a day would give me $900 a month, which is actually enough to cover all my bills each month (besides food and gas). Combine that with the money I make from my day job and I would be able to live with a lot less stress.

My initial "method" is pretty much the old fashion way of making money online. I'm currently in the process of creating two entertainment blogs (think failblog.org for example) and will be promoting them through web 2.0/social platforms. Hopefully the sites will gain a following as I don't plan on relying on SE's as a big source of traffic. I'll also probably use some services to promote these in the beginning to help give them a boost.

I plan to monetize both sites with Adsense, but I might switch to CPM depending on how well Adsense is performing. Both sites will be featuring a lot of videos, so I am a little worried about making sure I'm making enough to cover my bandwidth costs. I'll probably end up having to do a bit of tweaking to get things just right.

Well, thats my basic plan for now. If everything goes well, or even if it doesn't, I plan to add a few more sites to my portfolio. Hopefully at least a few people will enjoy following my journal and any tips will be greatly appreciated.

What you could do instead of posting videos on your website is just embedding them with Youtube. (For example: Look for fail videos, download, reupload on own YT account and post on your blog). Saves some bandwith. Good luck!

as dropdown said do that you will gain some extra traffic from Youtube as well which will be a win win.

Also i am also thinking of doing somthing like this just with adult side of it. :)

Thanks for the good luck wishes and suggestions so far.

As far as the YouTube suggestion, I thought about this early on but decided against it for a couple of reasons. For starters, I want to minimize the chance users will click off my site by clicking "View on YouTube.com". I still plan on uploading some videos to YouTube with watermarks to help gain traffic, but I won't be using it to embed videos on the blog.

I also want to make sure my videos and content stay up. By hosting them on my server, I'll know when I get C&Ds and not have videos on the site that stopped working. Another concern is YouTube banning my account and me losing ALL the videos. I'll be able to keep a backup of my server and be ready to re-upload the content quickly if something does happen with it.

hi, Hippo

I have two questions.

how do you get entertainment articles? fetch it from RSS or rewrite them yourself?

what tools do you use to promot your sites on web 2.0/social platforms?

All the articles will be handwritten and original. I hope to be able to outsource the writing once the site gets going though.

I haven't began the promotion yet. I'm still in the building phase.

Me too. I am subscribed to your thread. Wish you a happy and prosperous journey and keep us posted too. Will be following closely.

Well all the best. I'm currently on almost similar projects, except mine doesn't involve videos. I've been keeping my blogs on hold (no updates, no new posts) for the past several weeks because of my busy work schedule. But I'm beginning to receive SE traffic for some keywords. Don't leave out SE entirely.

Thanks again everyone. For those wondering, I won't be leaving out SEs entirely. Since most of the content will be pictures and videos, I won't be able to do much in the way of SEOing articles. However, I will be using good alt tags, descriptions and titles.

I'll be posting an update later on tonight about what I've got done so far.

OK, heres a quick update of what I have done before I go to bed:

I have both domains purchased, although I might change one of them. The design is complete on one site and just a few minor changes on the other. The only thing I have left is to properly set up my plugins and figure out a good system for publishing the content. Besides that, I've probably got around 10% of my content ready for the site launches.

I was hoping to be a little bit further along, but it's been a super busy week at work. I should be able to get a lot done over the weekend though.

basic but mate most of people like me cant follow your route just because they cant get approval from ad-sense.

There's plenty of other ad networks out there. THis isn't exactly a site I would get high CPCs on anyways.

Besides, if you plan on doing something similar to the journal, you dont have to copy everything exactly.

There hasn't been much to report the last 4/5 days. I've finished the design for both websites and got everything ready to go. All my spare time this week has went into creating and gathering content. I hope to launch the first site by the start of next week. Wish me luck

Subscribed. Good luck in your venture.

I have a unused domain name that I was planning to setup as an 'entertainment blog' also but havent had time to work on it yet.
