Hi guys, so as I wrote in the title I decided to join MCN in order to stop my music channel from being demonetized in the future. It is currenty demonetized (for the 7th time) and I'm negotiating with Air Music. The say they can help me remonetize my channel (they claim to have 99% percent succes rate). So far, they asked me to add my channel to my profile on their site, they wanted full screenshot of my monetization page and now they need me to add one of their specialists as Manager on my channel.

My question is this: Is giving their specialist a Manager role dangerous for me? I know that he would be able to delete content etc. but would he be able to somehow steal my channel?

Thanks for any help and advice :)

@Youtubedude7 Alright my friend, I will share my experience with MCN. Here is my story -

In 2016-17 my You Tube channels were going good. But I was also looking to get more views, subscribers and make more money.

Coincidently I received this email from an MCN named BBTV.
They assured me that if I join their network they will 'help' me with useful guidance to increase my views and subscribers.
They assured me that there will be rapid growth in my channel after that.
They assured me that my channels stats and revenue will skyrocket after that.
All they wanted to get is 10% of the revenue that my channel earned.
They assured me that they will assign an 'experienced' and 'dedicated' You Tube expert to look after my questions and guide and help me.
They assured the weekly meetings with that 'expert'.
All they wanted is 6 months legal contract and 10% of the revenue share. They claimed that since my revenue will grow with their help so I have nothing to lose. Infact my earnings were supposed to grow with their partnership.

I was happy.

What happened next is a nightmare.

The 'expert' they assigned to me was a complete novice!
This dedicated expert would sit in the meeting completely 'blank' without any prior homework.
His approach was so casual that annoyed me beyond a limit!
He would answer to all my questions in general manner, all the answers I already knew.
He then started postponing the meetings without prior notice to me. This was really frustrating!
My revenue did not go up with their partnership, infact they ate up the 10% of my hard earned money.

When I asked them why the revenue is not growing, they gave very general answers and denied to take the responsibility!!!
They blamed that my audience is from the 3rd world country (but they knew this already when they approached me, right?)

I was annoyed and angry like anything, but it was of no use because there was a 6 month legal contract which was to be completed.

Fortunately, at the end of the 6 months I kicked them off and refused to renew the partnership. I pledged not to enter in partnership with any MCN after that.

I ended up losing 10% of my 6 months revenue with this MCN partnership.

Disclaimer : This is my story. This is my conclusion. You do not necessarily buy my opinion. I shared my experience with you so that to make you aware that such things happen. So if you decide to join any MCN you will be more prepared to deal with the situation. You will be aware of the possible issues.

This is my sole purpose of sharing this experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience man.

I actually don't want them to do anything, channel is growing great, i just want to be protected from demonetization.

Thanks again!

Alright, in any case if you enter into a partnership they will demand a share in your revenue. That's how their business model is. If you are comfortable for that then you can certainly go ahead.

yeah, their share is quite big (20-30 percent). I reached to several music channels who have their monetization on and all of them told me it's the only way... I'm usually monetized for 8-10 months, then i get rejected 3-4 times (not monetized for 3-4 months) and then I'm approved again. But now, when I get demonetized, I will have to wait 90 days to apply again. So, next time it happens, I can stay demonetized for a whole year, that's a lot :/ That's the main reason I decided to try MCN.

They can't guarantee your monetization, be careful

when you are about to join MCN's they do need that role to have a check on your channel. it is risky only if you don't trust the company. if you are sure that the MCN is already well established you have nothing to fear.

and for your music channel, why did you get demonetized? i know that you will be able to monetize it, even without an MCN if you follow the right instructions.

explain your channel scenario and i can troubleshoot it for you. you can monetize it on adsense and keep 100%

I suggest if you are signing any contract with MCN, make it a short term contract like three months or less.

I am demonetized because of reused content. I'm doing chill music mixes, have around 140 videos. Average length is 100 minutes. I have 0 copyright claims, I'm using animated backgrounds, backgrounds are free to use, paid, or designed by me. I also have several videos of me djing, no claims as well. Music on the channel is mostly unlicensed and I have permission for most music used in most viewed videos on the channel.

As I mentioned, I was demonetized several times, I'm sure I will be monetized again, but I'm trying to figure out how to avoid being demonetized, there are many channels who do absolutely same thing and have their monetization on all the time. Thanks in advance!
