lame response. a scam is a scam
Really? Would you have a hissy-fit if someone "scammed" you out of a penny? Would you run crying to the community seeking some kind of justice over 2 pennies? Should BHW involve itself every time some crybaby newb gets "scammed" in a fiver gig?
My point is not lame. It's valid. At some point, the "scammed" amount is irrelevant to both the person that lost it, as well as the community overall. It is immature to assert the idea that there is "the" principal behind it. They say it like this:
"It's not the amount, it's the principal."
And they are wrong. It's not THE principal, it's only ONE principal. There are other, competing principals that a mature and informed mind maintains awareness of, and there must be some balance between them, otherwise the mob, in it's retarded and "principled" arguments on the playground goes running to the community-funded justice system seeking to win in a public forum what they failed to achieve on an individual, one to one transaction.
*I'm" the "community", and at some point I don't give a fuck. At some point, I figure a person needs to act like an intelligent fucking adult and if they get stupid and lose a few bucks well that's a cheap price to pay for a lesson that might, at some point in the future, save them from losing several thousand, or even more. Instead of crying over $15.00, the OP ought to send him another $15.00 as payment for a valuable lesson. If he has the common sense to appreciate that there are more important things going on here that a few bucks.
The alternative is to create a social system (here, in the microcosm of the forum, but also everywhere else, in a larger sense) where it becomes societies business everytime some crybaby stubs his toe, or has someone butt in front of them in line at the McDonalds. And I believe we already have enough whining little bitches running around demanding other people solve their problems for them, and not enough people willing to stand on their own two feet and take responsibility for the consequences of their own bad decisions.
Note, none of this is aimed at the OP or anyone in particular. It's a principle to consider. And it's not even "the other" principle, but rather it's just one. There are many others. At some point, some principles become less relevant, and others become more relevant. What's less relevant is that the OP lost money for some reason. What's more relevant is that the "scam" has been documented.
Which btw brings up another principle, which is what the definition of the word "scam" means. Most of the time, the word scam in the shitlist thread means that two newbs went about a business deal in a very half-assed manner, and when the smoke cleared one newb got less than he thought he was going to, and is now butt-hurt and seeking to "win" in a shitlist thread. And that's not a "scam", that's the natural result when two newbs that don't know how to do business get together.
So, if anyone wants to get all self-righteous and talk about "the" principle of the matter, they ought to first begin about the principle of using the correct language to accurately describe a situation, rather than the overly-emotional rhetoric of a butt-hurt crybaby looking to use a parent-figure to effect their childish revenge.
