Does anyone use Java Eclips to build android apps. I have a question about emulator not starting when I click on run. I would really appreciate some help.
A friend of mine has been building apps for a couple months. He used to use Eclipse and now uses Android Studio.
As you didn't really specify the question, I can only guess at an answer. Posting your logs here would help.
A quick search engine check showed a couple possibilities for the emulator not starting:
You may have insufficient memory (you might be able to offset this by checking the "Use Host GPU" in the Emulation Options when creating a new emulator)
You might check for multiple instances of the emulator running (this would be an issue if you were running out of memory as above)
It's possible Eclipse is looking for a USB-connected device instead of starting an emulator
Of course it could be something else, too, but without logs (please use CODE brackets) or any sort of error message, I can't even begin to debug what's going on.
Also, that search took me less time than writing this response...
Not sure about about Java Eclipse but I used Google appinventor and when I try to run the emulator from there it takes time to load(upto 20 mins for the first time).
You using Ubuntu?
Also I am starting with Java Eclipse looking forward to learn to Android apps.
No, you don't need one to be connected. BUT! Much better to have one, I got an android phone for $50 for testing purposes. I never had enough luck to run the emulator, it sucks to be honest. You have to sign some memory to the emulator before you first run it, otherwise it won't run. If I put a lots of memory it doesn't run, if I put less it doesn't run either.
You can also download BLUESTACKS, it works well and you can just double click on the .apk file once you have it and it will install it for you inside their emulator. Hope it helps a bit!
Oh, btw...if you need a reliable advertising company, (if you wanna make money too with your apps) then let me know. I am using one since 2013 and I am very happy with them. On time payments, every time. PM me.
I rarely use the emulator since I got an Android device. Are you sure you have the latest sdk's? It seems that you're targeting an sdk that doesn't exist or the emulator does not have the right sdk configuration.
