I've just lost $3k, guys

PS: I had every intention of going to small claims court against them.

sry to hear that, it's so bad when something delays your plans.

And by gaypal, we've had enough of them. It's time some other payment service take over the marketplace. Start using moneybookers people, i feel much safer with them.

You probably withdrawed the money too fast. Next time, especially for huge payments, wait at least a week. It takes a few days for the chargeback of an unauthorized transaction to happen. You probably withdrawed too fast and that was a red flag for paypal.

Hey,

I didn't read the whole thread but my advice is DON'T GIVE UP.

Fuck PayPal, who are they to dictate where YOUR money goes?

My friend has the same problem. He got limited. He provided proof, a shit tonne of proof. And they kept denying him for absolute bull shit reasons. Since I was the one doing all the work trying to his account unlocked on his behalf, I got sick of their shit and crap fucking excuses.

When I had told myself I will re-send in ID just ONE MORE TIME and they STILL DENIED IT I called in to PayPal the following day.

I had the recorder going and when the lady answered the phone I laid it all out for her. I asked her what her name was and then informed her that I was recording the phone call (coincidentally I was being treated like a king at this point).

I told her that I had sent in numerous proofs of ownership of the account (speaking on behalf of my friend at this time) and all of the reasons they were denying me for were invalid. I told her this process had been going on for over a week with no resolution.

As such, I informed here that I am giving them 72hours (could have been less/more can't remember exactly) to review all information provided and to release the funds. If they do not release the funds then I am taking all of the email proof + phone call recording to small claims court. I told her the date I would be lodging the complaint and I gave her the court location/name. I told her to note this stuff down.

The next morning, account was unlocked and money ready to go.

From now on, that is the approach I am taking with them :)

I would definitely go with this approach too. This is an example for all the members here that paypal is a legal service that most definitely doesn't wanna get involved in lawsuits and similar stuff, so if you have provided enough proof and u still don't get your account active, go with this approach and they will most certainly unlock it.

A phone call can do the job for you, don't hesitate to make it.

I hate paypal, they are really stupid. I had similar bad experience in the past with them.
They are only good at freezing funds and limiting accounts.

Liberty Reserve Rules over the rest of online payments but sadly its not that popular.

I was going to share my experience of having $6000 held hostage by Paypal, but I realized that it was in 2001 and that is ten years ago. It has been ten years and Paypal is doing the same thing to us for over ten years. I got it back in 60 days, but that was not fun.

Sadly I'm not an US resident and there is very limited law to protect us here.

So what? It's not their money and they have no right to do that. They really need to be investigated because what they do ain't right.

They gave me the "180 day - steal your money - profit off the interest" ban a couple of weeks ago, and i needed that money to advertise. Now my cash flow has pretty much stopped.

Yup, i learned my lesson. Fuck paypal and anyone who works for them.

So I made my biggest sale ever in my life last week with $3k in total value by selling my websites. I thought using sedo or escrow will take a long time so I agreed with the buyer to use paypal.

I decided to withdraw some money to my bank for offline use and suddenly receive email from paypal that my account is limited due to "suspicious activities". After three days providing them the proofs they need, my account is limited and the fund will be release in 180 days.

Well, that's really a bad news because I have the plan to re-invest with that money and now I have to delay my plan.

It sucks, to be honest but it's not the end of the world. I built the sites and get that money after six months and I think I can get the more with less time, around 4 months (creating content and SEO).

My lesson after this incident is to withdraw the money to my bank account first and then charge to my cc. After that, I can use paypal to pay online. I will never store the cash in paypal account.

Thanks for reading guys, I feel a lot better now

are u new in selling websites? 'cause u'd know that we NEVER, NEVER use paypal...always escrow, or direct wire transfer, wu, etc. Lesson Learnd I'd say. But I'm still sorry to hear it

Yeah, I'm new. this is the fourth time in four month. Besides, I heard that there are scammer on escrow.com too and escrow.com will cannot do anything to help the seller. That's why I went paypal.
Surely lesson learned.

OP, I'm sorry to hear your losses, but you didn't lose $3000.

The thread should be more appropriately named "PayPal is holding my $3000 for 180 days to make interest off my money"

I know that but I have a plan to make at least 2 times of that amount in next 4 months so it really a blow. Never mind, it's time to borrow some money :D

There's no criteria for PP to freeze your account apart from you having some money in the account. I had 200 dollars frozen because i received about 6 $5 payments from "suspicious" accounts. I emailed them and phoned them and they weren't even interested in any proof of earnings. They just acted as if it was the end of the world. So my recommendation is to never have anything to do with them again.

every one says Paypal sucks. why they are not ipmroving their service after all they are begest name in to send money online then what else they need paypal could earn more if they stop this nonsence.

There are reasons why paypal will flag your account, and put on the 180 day hold. Did you have any cookies or LSOs linkin you to another paypa account? Were you logging in from multiple ips? If you ever logged into that account from the same ip that another limited account was linked to, you'll get slapped with the 180 day hold.

I only have one account, mate

Apart from Paypal..What other payment option do people use if anyone want to get funds from Europe country...Basically from UK to India. Because Paypal sucks for Indian user.

Lesson learned. I've lost 5.5k in the past because of paypal along with 3 sites. Basically I sold the websites, the buyer got his sites and content and I never got the money :)

Either use SEDO, Afternic or Wire, this way you will never loose the cash. I cannot use Escrow.com in my country but it is also a good option.
