I've just been offered a good sum for my website, even though it did not sell on flippa. I've agreed the sale but buyer wants access to google analytics which I can understand.

Thing is, I have multiple sites in my analytic account. How do I prevent him from viewing other sites?

You can make a video of your screen of the sites analytics you want to show the buyer.

Thanks guys and some good ideas. Can I share reports instead from analytics? If you were buying and knew what you were looking for, would the PDF reports tell you everything?

Just throwing it out there, OP. I've heard of guys getting ripped off on a site sale even when they used escrow.com. Not sayin' this isn't legit, just saying watch your back.

if you block him from viewing those other sites in your analytics, all thats gonna do is scare him away from buying the original site. then again, thats precisely why you dont him to view those other sites in your analytics aint it?

Oh god, now I'm panicking. This guy is just too keen to hand over money into my paypal account. I smell shit all of a sudden.

I have worked hard for three years on this site. Not gonna see it swiped. However, dude could be legit.

Can't take any chances. What's the best way to do this transaction?

How come every 2nd "helpful" post over here is made by someone who hasn't got a clue what they're talking about?

Just so you know - when you grand someone guest access to your GA you're not "blocking" them from seeing any sites. You're GRANTING them access to a particular site / sites and not only will they not see the URLs of your other sites, they won't even know that other sites exist in your account.

Don't do PayPal. Or if you do then make an agreement saying that you will hold the domain name for 45 days after the payment (as that's the deadline for opening a dispute). Escrow.com is only slightly more expensive but 100x safer.

But you should obviously still do your due diligence on the buyer. Google their name, get them on phone, etc. .. in short, make sure that they seem legit. Scammers often enough look/sound like scammers, generally avoid phone conversations etc. etc.

Escrow it is then. Never used it but looks the way to go. Big thanks!

Just curious, did this end up going well?

Thanks for asking. Well the buyer has transferred the money into Escrow, and the domain name has been transferred to him. Now he's in an inspection period, (5 days) before he confirms all good.

My only worry is that he'll f@ck off with the domain and ftp info and tell escrow he's not satisfied. Then all he needs to pay is a small charge to ecrow for pulling out.

Anyway, day 2 of inspection so we'll have to wait and see. Still don't feel right about this somehow.

He can't just say he's not satisfied and vanish with the domain, cash and files.

Escrow doesn't work like Paypal where you'll almost always lose as the seller.

As long as you can prove you transferred everything per the agreement, you'll be fine. If he's not happy after the inspection period, he'll have to return the domain before getting his cash back.

Thanks meathead. That makes me feel better knowing that.:D

I'm curious as well.

Could you tell us how much the site made per month? I find that most people on flippa sell sites for about 10X the site earned per month.

So how'd they get ripped using escrow?
I'm just asking...

Hali~!:)
