I've got two Exact Match Domains with a combined total of 10,000 exact searches monthly.

However, if I type the keyword in quotes into google, i get over 11,000,000 results.

Should I move forward and purchase the domain? Will having an exact domain that matches the keyword bump me up a lot in the ratings?

Thanks.

What exactly are the domains you are looking at?

I'd rather not share, as I don't want to Purchase them until I get some advice on whether having an EMD would help

Even Google's keyword tool shows inflated results for keywords. If there are 11,000,000 results for your EMD's, try scrolling through the result pages, and see if suddenly that 11,000,000 drops.

Good rule of a thumb with Google's keyword tool is take the exact search number per month for any given keyword, divide it by 3, and thats how much real traffic you can expect to get to your website.

Good luck,

Khaotik

Maybe I'm not too clear. I'm sorry if I'm not.

What I mean is, I have found two exact match domain names to two long tail keywords that together get ~10,000 exact searches monthly.

Now, my question is, how much does an exact match domain effect the ranking in google?

Espeically if there are 50,000,000 results shown

Answer: A LOT, but not from the begining.

That is it is much much easier to get on 1st page with a 100% keyword domain (especially .com) but u won't get there from the start. Google sees 100% keyword domains kinda like the "official site". If you build content and some quality backlinks the boost factor of the keyword domain gets applied, othwewise it won't help much. So you have to help your domain with content and links. Also once you are #1 is harder to get pushed down by competition.

Depending on the competition for the keyword, you can expect to be in the top 10 for a one page article, without ANY SEO back links to your site. I've done this many times with multiple sites.

Check your competition, get Google's toolbar to determine their pagerank, use yahoo to check their back links.

Above all, take heart what I said in my last post, do not expect to get 10,000 hits to your site a month, even if you rank number 1 for both. Expect more like 3333. Add a few more keywords to different pages of your sites, all the results will add up and get you more traffic.

Best of luck,

Khaotik

Well it will help you out in the long run.... cant tell you exactly how much but its certanly better to have an exact match... especially if you just start out and your competitors are 1-2 years old. It will help but dont expect to fly through SERP just because you have an EMD...

thanks for the tips. I'm not sure if I'll go ahead with it. Still reading about SEO and stuff.

Anymore input would be valued. Thanks!

Get Market Samurai trial and do a deeper research on that keywords and about competition. Search BHW for keyword research, there are a couple of good threads explaining it step by step and also some good tips to keep in mind when you do kwd research.
IMO kwd research is 90% when building a micro niche site. HTH. GL.

Cheers.

Yes, EMDs rank better naturally according to google.

Run an SEO competition analysis.. We can speculate all day with exact match and broad match, but until you see how strong the sites are on page one, you won't know for sure.
