I've been getting refferal spam again

First it was the Russians, now they don't specify a country code.

The website is simple-share-buttons (groot) com. I got 50+ referrals with a 100% bounce rate and 0:00:00 average session duration. Definitely spam. The website redirects to sharebutton (groot) org which looks pretty legit and has code to put share buttons into a site.

I don't seem to see where they're benefiting from referral spam, so I figured their code has to have something malicious in it. I am not a programmer, but I peaked at the code it inserts here: cdn.sharebutton (groot) org/sharejs.

That code mentions popups and includes references to sharebuttons (org) net and also includes an import to semalt (groot) com/js/sharebutton.js which is much shorter and references the page empty page semalt (groot) com/test/sharebutton/.

Semalt is an SEO company and I don't think they'd go through so many hoops if they were just a Russian redirect to porn site, so I'm pretty sure it's doing something.
Once again, I am not a JavaScript programmer so I can't be sure of any of this is malicious. If someone who knows JavaScript could chime in, that'd be great.

[TD="class: ID-dimension-data-0 _GAwH"]simple-share-buttons guys are spamming random GA codes. This kind of referral spam can't be blocked from your server because they are not visiting your site at all, just querying your GA code from the outside.

The only way to get rid of this is by setting a filter in your GA to exclude every "session" made with a hostname different than yours. In the specific case of simple-share-buttons, it looks like they are querying without even setting a hostname so the filter should work anyway. Check this out for more info about setting the filter:

Lot of seo's are facing this problem and filter in the google analytics is not a solution for that its like closing your eyes and thinking no one is watching you. Google should deindex these sites which spams and increases bounce rate of other websites.

Yeah it's driving me mad too Google should just ignore them.....

Cloak out your GA code from unwanted spiders, that way they can't capture your GA id in the first place.

i was also geting some traffic from simple-share-button
but it was small enuff so i ignored
and after two days it disappeared
so yeah all cool

That's a wrong interpretation of how the bounce rate impacts rankings. The only bounces that Google cares about are the ones generated by users clicking in your SERP result and quickly returning to the SERP with your result URL as a referral. That way Google knows that your content is not relevant for the query because the user went back to the SERP to look for another result.

That bounce rate is not affected by the referral spam we are talking about, because this referral spam is causing referral bounce rate, not related at all with the SERP bounce rate which is caused solely by organic traffic.

If you are not interested in suhc traffic then ban those bots either in site or from GA or using third party services.
