Did some pretty heavy SEO on a site a while back, methinks a little too much.

Tried my best to clean up all the junk, however I'm still completely off the Google board.

Anyone have any decent tactics/ strategies to clean up my image in Googlies view? Obviously a small amount of high PR links would be beneficial, dripped at the pace of a snail.

Can anyone suggest anything?

He went for 3 weeks and expected results, my domain is already over a year old.
 
There's a saying: "Fight fire with fire". It applies for SEO as well.
 
So, when Google removes me from ranking, I remove Google from my rankings?

Ah! It's so simple, why didn't I think about that before?!
 
Over-optimization is always not advisable these day, once you are penalized it not easy to recovered.
 
Had your same problem. My domain was PR2 and 5 years old but was penguinized all of 2012. Recently I went out and bought the .net version for $15 and moved my site to the clean .net (although any new domain name will do)( I built no backlinks) and within a couple days the pages started ranking and I started getting traffic.

Get your content cleaned up for on page and off page. And your ranking problems go away.

You just moved all of the content or did you do anything else?
 
I cloned the site with backup buddy. And then installed it on the new domain.

But this will only work if your site is structured in a logical way like in a Silo. And if you have a decent amount of "well" written content. Like 50-100 pages.

How long has it been ranking for? I did the same with a site last year and had better rankings than ever but then the whole thing tanked with Panda rolled around last September.

The best advice for OP.

I've been hanging out on PUA forums for a while. There's a recurring theme there. I've had this girl, I developed a feeling for her,
we broke up, how can I get her back.

And the right answer is ... forget your ex and get another, better girlfriend. It is easier and more productive to get a new better
looking girlfriend and train her to behave properly around you than to "fix you ex".

Same goes for domains and Google.
 
Couldn't agree more with cash202, leave it behind and start new. It will save you a lot of headaches. "you can make the future, but it starts with leaving the past" - immortal technique
 
I think the whole "abandon your domain" logic is the wrong way to look at it personally. If your trying to build a viable long term business you should be working with what you have. Otherwise every update you'll be looking to burn another domain instead of fixing the problems for the long term.

You make sense there. I too have been smashed by Penguin/Panda. Tried everything; 301 redirects and the like to no avail. I have a new strategy much like your girlfriend analogy. Its called Churn & Burn!!
