It's all about the money

Actually for one 3th of the things you have mentioned you don't need money.
Money are just an easiest way to get to those things.

It's survival of the fittest OP.

In our modern world money is just the most fundamental representation of this fact.

Life is war. We weren't put on this planet to be given everything we want and desire (most of us I should say). We were put on this planet to survive and procreate. As the saying goes, "only the strongest will survive". Like if I'm on a beach, and I see little kids building sand castles... if their parents aren't around..... I will trounce their castles flat with my feet. Just to teach those little shits the most important lesson of their lives. And if they cry or start screaming, "that's not fair" ... I just say "exactly" and walk away.

Same thing with pan handlers. If I see them on the sidewalk I'll bend over like I'm about to give them $1 .... grab the whole can and run.

As far as sex goes... I've fucked so many beautiful women I can't even remember them all. I just take my 1080p super hi-res HP desktop printer, photocopy a bunch of $100 bills, go on backpage and call up a whore. We meet at a hotel. The slut walks in and I put the money on the table. And since they're all just greedy whores they tend to count the money super quick then put it in their pocket. I fuck them 6 ways to Sunday and they leave. The few times I've been called out on it I just say, "if you really think I'd do something like that then just CALL THE COPS.... WHORE". And they never do.

Cause I'm a survivor. And that's what you need to be OP.

Not cool bro, not cool.

My mentor always told me money is like oxygen, try going without it for awhile and see what happens! HAHA The thing is money gives you options. Options gives you more choices. Choices give you more opportunity. Thats how it is...will it make you truly happy? Probably not but it will allow your basic needs to taken care of. Everything requires investment. If you can think of one thing that doesnt let me know. YOu want some ass? Gotta take the girl out and listen to her problems or get an escort. You want more money? You still need some money and or time to take it happen. Even relationship requires investment! If its one thing I learned over the past 6 months is that you cant escape from what I just said.

This world doesnt have survival of the fittest anymore....look at the poor people that literally live off welfare because they know they get more money with welfare then getting an actually job. If what you are saying is true...alot of people would be dead including my current gf who is missing a leg thanks to cancer.

I want to go crush some little kids dreams with you and giggle in the sunlight

People who have money say "It's not all about money" because they know that happiness in life is all about freedom. However... They will be the first to acknowledge that money is by far the best tool for achieving freedom.

People with no money say "It's not all about money" because they need to shift the blame off themselves as to why they aren't rich. They need to delude themselves they're happy with their studio apartment, $1 burger and bag of weed.

Although I'll admit with your statement on 99% of cases, I bet some of the things you mentioned aren't really necessary:
- Want to gain weight, gym, weights - money
- Want better clothes - money

Unless all your clothes are torn and used up, do you really need to buy more? Yeah sure, it might make you happier, but I don't think it's on the top of your priorities list considering what you have mentioned. Also, about gym, you could always train on your house, park, etc. you just need discipline to do so.

Some other of your points might be *necessary* as I see and they might need money, as all the world runs around money and won't work otherwise. But you can't get depressed over some of the things you mentioned on that list.

I hope that you can work out your problems and the best to you.

Okay, exercising for weight gain can be done for free, I did make some weights with plastic empty milk bottles filled with water, but food can't be gotten for free...

Clothes, well, yeah. Most of my clothes are like 5-10 years old, and I'm not 15 or 20 years old anymore, I need to dress better. I can go without this thing actually, but it is a part of it... You can just see something is old, worn out, and when something is new-er...

But I can get depressed about some of them too, particularly the health problems. If it wasn't for the health problems actually it would all be different, but, it is what it is...

Thank you.

This is out of context imo.
Money is not a solution to majority problems. Its a tool. On the end it depends how user will use it, so the outcome can vary.
One will take the money and get wasted, spend it on toys and then wont be able to pay for a rent and it will say afterwards "its not about the money"
Or someone can invest them, keep his expenses low and make most of it.

People do not follow simple principle - you need to be smart to have a lot of money. Not to make, but to be able to hold them.

To the OP - yeah, thats what adult life looks like. Money is a solution to your problems, so make enough to get by and have some left. Do not go through all this socialist stuff like "I dont really want to need money", "I am not greedy" etc. All people in modern civilization needs money to go by and majority of people are greedy to some extent.

And yes, if you have more than half brains and some proper self control - money does bring happiness.

Nice one.

Yeah, I've worked out that "I don't really want money" programming. You know, health specifically, when you see that you either gotta live with it or make money to fix it, it changes everything, and your programing goes ts ts ts, because survival/health/avoiding pain kicks in... But I, as many others, were raised by people with no money programming us to stay poor until the end of days with the "Money don't really matter" bullshit fucking trip...

Yes, but what would be a better realistic alternative?

It's really no wonder you are feeling so low... I assume you are dealing with clients who speed up audio tracks and remove natural pauses from speech using audio filtering algorithms... not do mention the fact that most outsourced transcription work typically requires dealing with thousands of different accents, listening to people eating while dictating, differentiating between multiple voices, memorizing complex style guides (four or 4) and deciphering technical terms (legal and medical)... add to that the pain of wearing headphones for hours on end and typing thousands of words every hour... transcribing for $5/hour really is soul destroying work. I did it fulltime for 9 months and by the end I was suicidal.

Any reason why you do transcribing instead of writing?

Well, I mostly work for this company, and they don't do that speeding up audio and stuff, I don't think at least...

Yes, there's different accents, speaker identification, different style guides - full verbatim, clean verbatim, edited verbatim, etc.

Wearing headphones for hours, hah, you understand :D

Well, I think I'm transcribing because my mind is what works, not creative. In other words, transcription does take some improvisation, but not much, while writing takes creativity. My mind is wired to do what works. Like, English is my 3rd language, so one would think I'd be doing translation instead of transcription, but I can't really do translation because I literally translate, and that's not how it works. Well, transcription is literally literal :p

I'll go as far as saying that many people are unhappy, regardless of having money or not. It's just the way it is.

Hah, you reminded me of something...

It is actually about peace of mind.
I earn a lot, but I also have a lot of dependencies and a lot of fear to loose what I have. Did money make me free? No, it didn't.
Whilst I am far away from being rich, I can say buying everything you want is not the solution. The more I was able to buy, the less I enjoyed it.
Now, I am strictly not buying physical goods. I am not saving money, I sold all my stocks and everything. I invest everything in experiences for me and my family. I am paying for courses to learn more what I want to learn and do things with my loved ones that will create memories. This is a bit easier with money, but not better. It all depends with the human being you are. If you are an unlucky guy, you will stay an unlucky guy. Money can't fullfill the expecations you might have in the long run.

Well, see, there are things that I have to do before I can even consider kids, family, and real life, because I'm sick and tired.

In the big picture the only thing that matters to me is to have my own apartment, to fix my nose, to fix my toe, and to fix my teeth. However, the catch is I've been through the "healthcare" system, and it's just a bunch of buthers and toilet papers with diplomas on their walls doing nothing, helping nothing, and taking your money.

So about $30,000 would definitely solve the apartment step. And about $20.000 could probably "solve" my health problems. But I put my health solution at $50.000-70.000 at least, because I don't want half assed work done by butchers in butcher shops, I want it done by professionals, in America, or Israel, or Russia, or wherever those "Healers" are located that know their shit...

If I want doctors/businessmen/toilet papers, they're all over the place, and they're cheap, and they ruin things... If I want real health, real help, it will cost me, I realize that...

So what it all comes down to, I need about $100.000 just to get my life back, and then, well then I can live with very little, but if I manage to make 100k, I think I'll be well situated to make that much more, especially after the big problems in my life are resolved, or on their way to being resolved...

Money is awesome.

OP, have you considered raising your rates? I have no idea what a transcription person is worth, but what about translations?

Sitting at home all day doing transcriptions doesnt sound very mentally healthy. Look at all these suicidal people on this forum.. all the depressed posters. You gotta get out of your house, talk to people, do something to take a break.

It is awesome.

My rates really depend on the company I work for, so I can't exactly make demands. About doing translations, look in the response I gave 2 comments above, and you'll see why I'm not really cut out for translation. I could go down that road, but even still, I can only make as much as there are hours in a day. In other words, I can work 20 hours a day, transcription, translation, whatever, and make this much money, but no more than that...

I work transcription to survive, I'm looking into every and anything else to hit it big. Hitting it big, like, I'd be satisfied with $1000+ a month, I'd be excited and happy with $2000+ a month, I'd be absolutely thrilled with $3000+ per month, and I'd go nuts and run through the streets naked with $5000+ a month :D hahaha

Yes, you're right, it's not very healthy, plus I think I've developed some social anxiety because of it. But that's a long story... I'm really in the get rich (or a little rich) or die trying. That's my trip, and I'm willing to sacrifice...

I find it odd and curious to see that 99% of the time those who claim "it's not all about money, Edward.." are those who have a comfortable amount of money or a comfortable situation in life. Money can't buy happiness but it creates a situation much more conducive to happiness. Sorry for your struggles man. I got no help either, my parents are alive but I have to help them pay their rent because they are so financially inadequate. Also, my older brother works 80+ hours to lavish a wife that could possibly be the antichrist. Haha. Life is strange.

Haha women... I love women... I hate women... I have nothing to say about women... Women are awesome... Women are the devil...

Hmm, you can see my confusion and contradiction...

But I will say one thing, all those women puking the "I don't care about money" story in an effort to maintain some morality or whatever, they're full of shit. You can say I'm wrong, but try to find a woman, decent looking one, with no money, see how long she's gonna stick around even if you got great game and talk all the right talk...

It's not that they lie, I believe. Well, most of them don't lie, probably. It's just that most of them are not in touch with their subconscious enough to realize that that fancy car, big house, travels and all attracts them, subconsciously...

It's either people who have nothing and wish they had something who say "money isn't everything" or it's people with loads of money and no financial stress who say it. The average person understands that money is important because they aren't a bum living in the streets but they still want to have a roof over their head and have to work for it.

Money might not buy you happiness, but I sure as fuck would rather be sitting here typing out my first world problems than sleeping in the dirt.

ETA: cant' find the dude with the rotting teeth thread, but I bet he wishes he had money right now. Getting rid of rotting teeth would sure make him happy.

haha that's the argument, the winning one.

When people talk about money's not important like verbal diarrhea, I tend to like to tell them to go tell that shit to that homeless guy who's starving while trying to sleep in the fucking rain...

And if you have the heart to tell him that, then, well, you have your head shoved so far up your ass that it's not even funny...

Okay, I am inputting here. You gotta look at it like this, okay. You don't worry about money, and it comes to you. You worry about it. It stays away. When you feel low, yes come where you feel like you will be able to be lifted up. You can do this, man! You seem like you might have a GREAT vibe about me and just need some positive reinforcements. You CAN do this, ok? Don't let that green goblin get the best of you. It's not really about it.
Stay strong and come here often. pick yourself up with our help.

You are good! You are unstoppable! BOOM!

Thank you GrahamCrackers... :)

Money are just an easiest way to get to those things.

Well... what?

I mean, apart from the exercise/weights, which can be done for free, what else from the things I mentioned can?

A girl can be gotten for free too, if we're gonna bullshit each other and lie to each other. And even so, getting a girl, how do you keep her when she gets nothing for her birthday, valentines day, when she goes and hangs with people who's parents pay for shit, and who haven't worked a day in their lives but are always running around, cars, clubs, bars, talking a big game, and have never done anything in their lives. You can get her, but that's just one night stand, or something that will last not very long at all...

And traveling, sure, you may attempt it, walking, hitchhiking, and doing it like a real bum and a gipsy. However, you can easily find yourself in a foreign country, with no money, and hungry. So again, you can do it, but in reality you really can't. And another obstacle for me is the whole Visa/Green Card/Permit story. I can't just pick up and go wherever I want, because my country, it's a third world country... But money, I can be buying passports for money...

Money solves all problems, removes all limits, and it all comes down to it, if you really think about it...

hahaha that's hilarious.

And I am a survivor, but I won't get into that here...

Nice.

But money would make me happy. Like, I can't guarantee that, because you never know how something will make you feel until you actually get it, and experience it. But if I had to bet, I'm putting all my money on the money would make me happy bet...

Not the money itself. Like, I'm not gonna sit at home and cuddle with my money and shit... but anything that would make me happy, anything, will cost me. Money is the ticket to that happiness train, at least for me, I believe...
