It seems wrong to do a 301 before the core update is completed

I 301 redirected my domain name to a new domain name before the March core update was completed. Unlike the previous 301, my keyword rankings were not inherited and many keywords disappeared. 2k keywords have become 700 (10 days have passed); what should I do now, should I continue to wait?

The SERPs can be volatile, and rankings might fluctuate more than usual. Give it a few weeks to stabilize before making any drastic changes.
