can anyone point me in the direct of the post about how to use google to get free i stock photos

Here u go:

Go to images.google.com and type in:

Code:
inurl:"istock" "your keyword here"
Most webmasters don't change the filenames after buying stock photography, so you can use this quick way of getting free images from iStock.

enjoy:)

Code:
inurl:"istock" "your keyword here"

You gotta love this place!

Gonna stash this in my bag of tricks....thanks given :)

I do a lot of graphic arts, as well, I'm an image junky.. ;)

I know quite a few google tricks but that was a new one for me.. "never even thought of it!"

BIG thanks -> me100rabh !!!!

Mindseye.

yup....i always use it to find cool images for my websites......glad it help u:)

Nice one last question how do you find the file name once you find it on istock ?

Nice one last question how do you find the file name once you find it on istock ?

file name for what??

i just type the keyword in the search key of Google image and it comes with the result..i check which images are best fitted for my niche, i copy that.....nothing more.

like if u want to search for weight loss photo just type this in Google image:

Code:
inurl:"istock" "weight loss"

You can also use different variables as well - so let's say we want weight loss "clip art".

You would type:

Code:
inurl:"clipart" "weight loss"

Play around and see what you can find.. ;)

Again! Great tip!

Mindseye.

honestly, you really don't need a hack...just enter 'keyword' 'photo' and you'll get a ton of results not just from pple who use istock photo.

btw, when you do decide to use the ghotos in your site don't forget to watermark them ;)

If u want high resolution photo from iStock use keyword "large"

like this:
Code:
 inurl:"istock" "large"

similarly u can use these keywords for good result: "medium" "small" "jpg" "png"

I agree with all of this, just one more thing. When I found my i*s*t*o*c*k image, I also try to see what other images are stored in the same folder. Usully there you will find a bunch of other interesting images or different sizes of the same image.

how to look inside the folder?

how to look inside the folder?

yeah, he means if there's a way to h*ack a site's directory to see if there are more images.

the only way to do anything like this legally you can do a google image search on the domain you're targeting...

In addition to the photos, you can get vid clips as well.

1. Go to
Code:
http://video.google.com/

2. Type in
Code:
inurl:"stock" "frustrated"

For whatever reason, when I typed in "istock" instead of "stock," I didn't get any results, but when I just typed in "stock," I got all the iStock vid clips.

Just wanted to contribute to the thread. :D

EDIT: Damn. I take it back. They're all watermarked. :(

On the slight chance that anyone ever comes in here again. I have an update for this thread.

If you simply put the name of the stock site into the search bar and add an underscore "_" this will bring back almost all the images posted for that site.

For example "istock_"

I am up to 50 full pages so far with no watermarks, all the various sizes are coming up.

how to look inside the folder?

A lot of designers forget to put an index file in their directories, so if, for example, the image's URL was:
Code:
http://www.website.com/folder/images/image1.png

You could go to your browser, and try to go to:
Code:
http://www.website.com/folder/images/

If they haven't included an index file or some other kind of permission, you'll see a list of the names of all the files in that directory.

Enjoy!

anybody have new cheat for stock images download from "http://www.istockphotos.com" and "shutterstock.com" both ".eps or Jpg"
