    Ok.

I have posted this before but i did not have the knowledge to describe what is happening. The main ideea is that after using scrapebox for about 2 hours or on a big list of blogs i can not access anything anymore as my connection freezes and even if i try to browse i get a blank page until i reboot the machine.

    To describe this better:

I am loading a batch of 50k blogs and start commenting on them, in the background i am using cports to see what exactly happens to my connection.

I noticed that a lot of ports enter the fin_wait state and after a while they go into close_wait and from what other users advised, this should be the problem.

    My questions are:

    1. Can i reopen the ports that went int close_wait state without rebooting the machine?

    2. If so, how can this be done?

    3. If this can not be done, how can i open more ports in windows 7 and so extend the time untill i have to reboot my machine?

Help please, this is getting very anoying

    thx in advance guys :)

Are you behind a router? If so, what kind?

You can use TCPVIEW to close the connections

i solved mine by reinstalling Windows.

how many 'wait' connections did you saw when that happen ?

IMO, i think it's SB bug.. in programming, closing TCP socket can be tricky sometimes. Better to reuse socket other than open then close it..

basically after more connections enter the fin_wait state and go into close_wait, sb is running but cports shows nothing from sb anymore so i guess all ports are closed at that point.

My concern is, how do i reopen those ports without rebooting my pc

Use the tcp/ip patch to remove the limit from windows. And for serious work, ditch Windows 7 and get a server version. Windows server 2003 standard edition works best. 2008 is a bit heavy. Trust me, you will see a huge difference on stability and network performance.

    UPDATE:

it is not a proxy related issue. I fired up the scrapebox link checker without proxies and it seems i get the same issue. I loaded a batch of 38k blog links in order to check for my link and after about 20k i get only errors and my mozilla browser only opens a blank page. I have to restrt my pc each time it does that and it gets really frustrating.

Maybe Sweetfunny has 5 mins. to drop some thoughts about this issue :)

My best bet is that this is a network card / router related issue. However this topic *IS* one worth watching out for.

I'm also interested in optimizing TCP/IP for high amount of connections (small packets?) etc. so if anyone got a list of the most important settings please do share.

One can find stuff on the internet about it but often it just isn't related to sending a lot of small packets (doing blasts with 100+ connections etc).

Are your RPC ports tied down?

    Give this a try -

    Run CMD as an admin
Enter - NETSH IN IPV4 SET DYNAMICPORT TCP START=25000 NUM=30300
Reboot machine then give it a try.

Yes, i have tried both patches and none of them solved this issue.

I just did this so i will leave my machine on till later with 300 threads and see what happens, i will update as soon as this is done. I just wonder, am i really the only one experiencing this?

No, I had similar problems. I rebooted windows(7) in safe mode with network support and ran scrapebox in it. There it actually ran smooth as hell. Then I reinstalled windows 7. Now it works properly.

Wow, rebooting and running it in safe mode did the trick, didn't think the solution is so simple :), i left it running with a batch of over 600k urls since 5pm yesterday and it is still running smooth :)

    thx a lot
