Issue With Roommate - Am I overreacting?

Op seriously she is a women !! What did you expect ?

id hate to live with you, i feel sorry for your roommate

I'm 53 and my wife is about the same age... I wouldn't dare call her an old lady.

.

you can tell OP is young haha

yes your overreacting, go have some sex to release that stress and calm down. or goto the gym + eat chocolate. yes you can combine the two

>>> search for fat chick at gym eating chocolate failed. sorry better luck next time <<<<

M0nster

i think you should just let it go no point it starting a fight or an argument

I think it is not a big problem so you can take it easy. After being checked, you can tell them gently that you did check it and it was because the outlet. They will understand and feel ashamed. Anyway, you should get along with that. You will find that they are not as bad as you think. Have a nice time

it's a natural reaction to ask "did you test it" as you did not state that you tested it..so should they assume you did?? or assume nothing and ask
some people forget the little things (usually for me its on mondays)

if you said "hey the outlet in my room isn't working, I plugged a lamp in to test it and got nothing, could you get maintenance in here to look at it please"
then there would be no room for questions or assumption

and you are pissed about this? seriously? your life must be butter...

Are you serious? It's been over a day and you are still thinking about this? You gotta get laid.

I'm gonna put on the Man's hat.

First of all hate , disgust, and indignification are emotional spirits. Whenever they find a home in you cast them out, because they in themselves are despicable and should be abandoned... if your able.

The other thing is, definitely drop it. It's not worth the interaction. I know you feel insulted, and there is eternal contention between you and your roommates, but making this an issue would only strengthen the contention, although releasing your offense may feel good and appropriate... but that's just that despicable emotion riding your to an end... and the contention still be there, unless you both bother learned how to kiss each other's asses properly... which is gross so I'd recommend moving out and living alone.

How did the conversation not go like this?

"Hey the outlets not working"

- Wanna try it out with our night lamp?

"i already tested a few things with it, doesn't work"

- Ok cool.

Man, I wish I had simple issues like the OP. If that's the worse thing going for you in your life right now, then I'm jealous!

I'm a prideful person, and in this situation, I find it almost hilarious that you're insulted enough to still be thinking about it. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just saying that of all the problems in the world that people have to be worrying about, this isn't even worth the time it takes to respond to this message.

99% of human interreaction is one-offs. If you were annoyed at her assumption that you didn't test the outlet properly, you could've sarcastically said something like:

"...Really? I wouldn't have asked you to phone maintenance I hadn't already checked."

But now that it's all over, it's time to move on and quit thinking about it. You lost the chance to gracefully make a snide retort at her lack of faith in your intelligence--now you would just look pathetic if you brought it back up.

The only person who has the power to make you feel anger is yourself--so whenever you get angry, ask yourself if it's really worth the effort. If it blows up in your face, the only person who looks stupid is going to be you.

My old roommate (x-friend) decided he would throw away forks because washing them was too much work.

Relax bro. It could be worse

LOL. This is really funny. I've been at college for 2 years now and I've had some pretty shitty room mates. I'm a dude, and I've learned to just take rental agreements out with other girls because A) They are slutty and B) They usually can't stand a messy house.

I do put in work though, I work the plow. ;)

IMO -and not unlike other's opinions in this thread, yes, you're overreacting. I used to share a department with two other girls and one of them was really really annoying, but I managed to keep my cool, 'xcept for the ocassional 'once a month' mood changes ;). It takes a while to getting used to share your living space with others, specially if you're used to live on your own or with relatives.

R U feking kidding me??

You live there, your name is not even on the lease and you get annoyed because they want to help you troubleshoot your outlet?
If I had a roommate like you this episode would be her ticket to go somewhere else.

My roommate seriously annoys me. We are not friends or associates; only roommates and I don't want to associate with her much (which is fine because I like being in my room).

I asked her yesterday to call maintenance to get my electric outlet fixed, it's not working. I cannot call maintenance myself because I am not on the lease, nor do I want to be. So her and her husband were like "Oh do you want to test it out with our nightlamp"... ?

WTF. I know they are trying to be nice but I am not a moron. I already tested it out with various devices before asking her to call maintenance to ensure that the problem was with the outlet and not the electronic product. I am not a freakin moron! I feel so insulted!

They called maintenance. However I am so angry that they assumed I didn't test it myself. Should I confront them?

I really want to tell them "Look, I am not a moron. I tested the outlet before asking you. Why would you think that I didn't test it first? "

OR should I let it go?

Sarcasm ON

No.. you are not over reacting... it is within your full right to b!tch about people trying to be nice and helpful... and dang you have used that right to its limit...
Sarcasm OFF

The only problem I see here is with your roommates.... that "old" couple is terrible at choosing a roomate.......

from what you typed, it looks like you implied you only tested it with the one device
