Hello

I have an issue with one of my seo projects. Site provides a widget for website owners, they can place on their website. Widget has anchor "Built with X company"

What has happened is that since tons of people started using the widget and it became viral , now the anchor text for site is over-optimized, thus making website penalized.

About 58% of anchors have , the same anchor (built with X company) [ About 1 million links]
About 32% of anchors have, another anchor (powered by company) [ About 500,000 links]
About 4% of backlinks have no anchors
6% of backlinks have , click here.

Links are all from High PA, DA, sites and they are natural, because website owners usually install widget on high quality / ranking pages.

What would be a good way to remove this over-optimization anchor penalty ? I was thinking maybe start spamming GSA to tier 1 of the site. Site has a PR of 4. Very high PA/ DA ofc

Over 1.5 million links? Ohhhhhhhhhhhh boy

GSA won't even scratch that shit within a reasonable timespan unless you have 10 setups going, go outsource a huge xRumer blast maybe?

Re arrange the widget with diversified keywords instead using the same old one and yes other link building methods using SEO tools will be a good option.

Incorporate some spintax in your widget and make an update.

I had the same problem when developed WP theme which got downloaded thousands of time... over 2mil links with the same anchor text and surely penalty came along :(
Supposedly Matt Cutts said that we should use no-follow attribute there... but is it really our fault that we do something good and people like it?

Damn man you should just made url as anchor not kw u rank for.
It would be nice if you release an update for widget and when website owners update their widgets it should correct anchor mistake you made.

Also if that keyword that are overoptimized doesnt have monthly searches then no worries.

So solution wise , i believe best way to go is use a spinner. However i just tested and spintax doesnt work in html.
{click here| powered by | like this link }

Does anybody know a way of using spintax, to make it work in html ? Maybe a javascript, css, etc.
