some youtube gurus say u need to verbally repeat the keyword u want to rank at the beginning of the video because apparently the AI is too advanced nowadays and it can track what you said. Is there any truth to this or just a bro science. I don't really utter any keywords in my video descriptions because i don't want to be repetitive

Whether it is possible or not , I will have to say yes. Google is strong enough to be able to do this.

How do you think auto-generated captions are being made?

You can literally click on [***] menu and "Open transcript" to see autogenerated content from voice.

I think there is some truth to it, but i don't think it holds a high priority in your rankings.

It has no affect on rankings. Some youtubers speak anything just to grab attention and get views.
