this is somewhat of the world's "map of freedom".

The countries in green voted for amending the 1988 internet convention so that governments will have tighter control of the internet.

This was the worst possible outcome of the ITU meeting. The damage caused will be felt in the coming years throughout the world. The fate of the internet is sealed. The internet as we know it will not stay this way for long.

This proves the UN is the biggest threat to the free peoples of the world.
It is an organization whose majority is extremely corrupt and undemocratic.

The grey countries should leave the UN and start their own democratic organization.

Thank goodness my tiny country is in grey and predictably it is the only grey one in my region.

My home country voted against, but my current country voted for. And given that gambling and porn are already illegal here (and censored by ISPs as much as possible), didn't really surprise me. But like I give a fuck, it's not like I'll spend the rest of my life here anyways.

What does it mean? What are they getting the power to do?

i don't really think it matters, at the bottom line, it only matters what's the USA decides.
most of the "paying" internet users are from the "grey" countries anyways, and overall the UN is a huge joke.

it only matters what's the USA decides.

USA has no leadership anymore. Its basicly BRICS and Europe who took over the leadership.US still has its Agenda and is powerful but needs to consent with the rest. And about the United Nations i already posted here their offical created new world law that they want to change the defenition of human to organizm but there was no reaction about it.

and overall the UN is a huge joke.

I guess thats why all big personalities demand that UN takes the leadership (world government)
