Like most people I guess I tend to think in terms of Google rankings.
For one site I have been getting good page 1 Google results for a short whilee while now, nos 3-6 mostly for different pages, but it has been no 1 in Yahoo for a lot longer than it has been on the first page of Google.

What if anything should I make of that.

Still learning ;)

Yahoo and Google have different ranking algorithms. I don't know the exact number, but a much larger percentage of people user Google over Yahoo, which is why ranking in Google is quite important.

I've found I rank a lot higher in Yahoo and Bing immediately than I do in Google. They seem place a higher priority on backlinks than Google does. Some traffic still does come through there, so it is good that you are ranking high there too.

I would just focus on Google, you will get high rankings in Yahoo and Bing as a result anyways.

Thanks very much guys - I suppose the idea that good in Google means good in Yahoo etc is a good mantra and the fact it is nowhere near as powerful as Google it makes sense not to worry about it.

But I wonder if it has any bias to age/location or other profile issues that may make it more interesting to certain types of site?

Probably not the sort of info that is available anyway.

Yahoo and Bing are now have the same rankings, so there is a bit more juice to it. For some reason, I've found Yahoo organic traffic converts better than Google. Might be the subjects of might sites, though.

Does that apply o all sites in the same niche or is it a range of subjects Boris?
