Is yahoo site explorer NUTS???

I've just checked the backlinks of a competing article on a article directory with yahoo site explorer.

Now here is the funny part. According to it, my competitor has a link from one of my sites that points to HIS article, not mine. There is no way that there was a link to his article from my other site/domain EVER. What the hell is going on? Is yahoo site explorer not reliable anymore?
I just rechecked, it still points to my article directly... wtf?

Yeah try using other site explorer tools.

its an odd coincidence for a mistake. Check your site to be shure you are not linking to hiim

I rechecked - there is no way he could place a link on that site. It's simply impossible. No comments, no access to change anything or add any content, and the supposed link to his article is non existent. The only way I could think this is possible would be if my article on that article site got 301'ed to his, but this is not the case either.. when yahoo bot checked my article. Unless... the article directory redirected the yahoo bot... but that seems unlikely...

I was just reading the other day that because of microsoft not wanting marketers to get a good picture about link structures that yahoo site explorer is now getting less reliable...

What other site explorer tools do you guys recommend?

open that page and view the source, search for his url, if it doesnt find his url then yahoo site explorer sux balls now

I checked the source, was the first thing I did in fact. I thought maybe someone hacked into my site... but nope. nothing. Funny thing is, that link does not show up for my article anymore but still points to it a 100%.

Maybe he made a comment which later got taken down?
And Yahoo Explorer visit the page when the comment was up and has not updated yet.
Cannot think of any other reasons why this might happen
EDIT: I don't know but maybe yahoo might also track links from advertisements and if your page had some sort of advert, it might be the case.
