Is Wordpress commenting a waste of time?

Ive been using scrapebox to blast wordpress blogs with 1 website for a few weeks now. Using the keywords im aiming for as anchor text. Not doing to bad with comments sticking

Last night for the first time ive switched to blogengine. Left it commenting about 5k blogs and had about a 20% stick rate which is huge in my opinion

This was using exactly the same spun comments

Today my rankings jumped considerably and income from the site multiplied by 5x

Coincidence or have i just proved that Wordpress is a complete waste of time?

Whats your opinion? Has anyone came across anything similar?

Links you posted last night causing rankings jump today? Not likely.

It's probably that your wp links are finally getting indexed and counting.

only links the backlink checker has picked up between today and yesterday is the blogengine links

a few of the WP links but not much. less than 10

Of all my backlinks about 5% are blogengine, maybe even less. these were all picked up in the last 24 hours and then today the rankings increase dramatically
 
Same for me too. I get better result on BlogEngine. Movable Type are ok too but I get worse result on wordpress.
 
Im convinced now that either Google has diminished the strength of Wordpress links or its a variance in blog backlinks that makes a big difference

Id believe they changed WP links because over on a Google blog i was looking at feedback on Spam. The number 1 complaint was blog comment spam and logically its WP Google will target.

Its said you should get better results using blogengine since all the links are follow by default, whereas wordpress is nofollow by default. Im about to try a blogengine posting session, even though i hate with a passion using the slow poster.

you're wasting your time, using any software?
 
I can't stand using slow poster, may as well do it manually. Do a PR check and post manually on the top 50 or so.
 
I think WP should still be part of your link back strategy, but as mentioned above, by default they are no follow. Of course this can be changed, but it would be a small % that do this. However, if you comments are quality and relevant, traffic you receive (from users reading and clicking) will be much better at converting.

Google seems to prefer blogger now, probably because the own it, so this should also be part of your lb strategy.
 
Wordpress to use as your own CMS - great
To use as a commenting platfform on others - crap

70% of WP is nofollow (nearly all the hi PR stuff is nofollow) and Akismet is now a very refined bit of antispam software - there are other even better ones out there.

Scrapebox can be used for so much ,that this obsession with spamming WP sites is a little irksome.

Forget WP for your comments. Use SB to find better targets, their are THOUSANDS. YOu can outdo Xrumer in some cases. (with a lot more work up front admittedly)

Come on folks, forget WP for comments using scrapebox. There are lists of footprints on this forum that yield massively better results. Go look ;)

Private proxies do slow poster far better than the scraped ones (and you can walk away from your PC for a few hours and do something else)

Take a batch process view of posting. Sitting there bouncing on your chair going "come on - COME ON" is not the way to go about it.
Turn it on, go to bed, wake up with 150 high PR links.

But I agree with posting manually for the best links. Anything above PR4 gets the manual treatment from me.

Perhaps interesting is to take a high competition term. pr0n and pharma are good to go. Google it. Scrape the links of the top 10 or so. Remove duplicate domains. Run the blog analyzer - divide WP, MT and BE. Post on each. Better is to do auto posting on WP, arrange blogengine by PR and post on the top 50 or so. Reinventing the wheel is so tough :)

I think scrapebox should do the job..You just have to find the best wp blogs to comment on.
 
Questions for the op.

1) how can you tell if your comment stick?
2) what method do you use to harvest the urls? by keywords? Have you checked if the harvested sites are related to your website? because my harvested urls aren't related to my website, but i post comments regardless.

1) Firstly export all the successful posts to a txt file then run the check links feature on these. itll tell you wether the url is found and what the anchor text is. Id advise you to compile a list of these and soon you will have 1000s of auto approve blogs

2) You can only go so far with your niche. Theres only so many blogs in your niche so id suggest manually posting to these top sites then posting to the rest will well spun comments taking advantage of the full functionality of the the comments box. use the spinning and replacing heavily

I have a list of over 100k english keywords that i just put in the keywords box then harvest for when i run out of keywords in my niche

Do you have to put your backlink in anchor text? I have just been putting it as a normal link.

So what do you put as your URL in the anchor text? or do you do both?

Anchor text is very important. Not much point in a linkback without anchor text if your targeting a keyword
 
Well I just put a link back to the web 2.0 url. I am just trying to get links to the web 2.0 sites I made and to the ezine article, then to the money site.
