I've seen Vagex slow down as well. I'm a paid member but, to be honest, I don't use it a whole lot anymore. I used to carefully space out my credits once per month when I was given my allotment. These days, when I get my monthly batch, I just throw 'em all on my vids and let it roll. The fact is, the views are just a trickle anyway so, it's not likely to get you flagged on YT (not a good problem, when you factor everything in).
I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's not working. As previous posters have noted, there are views coming in. But, I would just use it as "one more piece to the puzzle" - and not base your entire view strategy on it.
As someone else said, if you want fast views and a lot of them - go with spk's ViewTornado service. It's a little pricey but it will get the job done.
The real key to getting your videos to rank (and I've said it before) is:
1) Keyword research - just as you would do for your websites. Search BHW for tips on how to do this properly. All the views in the world won't matter if your video isn't relevant in Google's eyes.
2) Make excellent videos. Quality does matter. There are just too many shitty, IM videos on YT. Nobody is watching those. Why would they? People come to YT to be entertained. Make something worth watching. Ask yourself "if I'm just casually surfing YouTube, would I watch this?" and "why?" Take your time and make something good. It will pay off in the end and you don't have to spend a lot of money to do this...just some time. If you suck at making videos but still want to market on YT, farm out the production process. There are a lot of great producers out there that will work for cheap. Get creative.
3) Find a niche. There are literally over 36K videos on YT for the search term "free cell phone". The top video has 176,304,475 views and counting. You're not likely to outank him/her. On the other hand, "crystal meth recipe" has only 69 videos! You can OWN the crystal meth market on YouTube!!
I'm joking, of course - but you get my point. Find a high ranking keyword with only a few videos and (once again) get creative.
Like everything in IM, being successful on YT takes time and planning. Vagex won't solve that for you.
