is using mobile proxy on cellular data different compared to using mobile proxy on wifi?

i have two high quality mobile proxys and im not sure if i should use them on wifi or cellular data

i dont know if it would even make a difference

im using an iphone btw.

and on iphone setting there is no proxy settings for cellular data, there is only proxy settings for wifi.

but you can use a proxy on cellular data if you use a method like a vpn or a third-party app that handles proxying at the application level

but i think im going overkill, the proxy is just for tiktok.

Just set the proxy on your WiFi if you're not doing multiple account management. Tiktok won't mind as long as the IP is clean.

Tiktok cares much more about the device than the network. The most reliable setup is a mobile antidetect+good proxies. Mobile proxies are great, but high-quality residential ones also work if they’re clean and stable. Also try to avoid full fake emulation. Mobile antidetects with realistic hardware signals perform way better, like GeeLark with real hardware instead of fully virtual fingerprints. In that setup, wi-fi+proxy is completely fine.

I really didn’t notice any difference for TikTok, so I just use it on Wi-Fi.

no real difference for tiktok. once traffic goes through a mobile proxy, it already looks like normal cellular traffic on their side.
iphone just makes it easier to apply proxies on wifi, so most people use that.
unless you’re running a lot of accounts or doing automation, using cellular + vpn is usually unnecessary. device signals and how you use the app matter way more than wifi vs cellular here

dont use the built-in wifi proxy settings . use a global proxy manager like shadowrocket or potatso .
these apps create a tun interface ( virtual network adapter ) that forces 100% of the phone's traffic through the proxy .
inside the app settings , make sure u enable 'proxy dns' so ur requests dont leak ur local isp's dns servers .
yall are missing the hardware leak factor lol . tiktok doesn't just look at the ip , it checks the connection type via the system api .
if ur ip is mobile but ur system reports "connection: wifi" , that’s a trust score hit right there . also , standard ios wifi proxy settings are trash - they leak dns like crazy and don't handle udp traffic well , which tiktok uses for data collection .
the goal is to make the app think the entire data stream is coming from the mobile ip without any wifi artifacts . if ur just doing 1 acc u might be fine on wifi , but for serious automation / multi-acc management , u gotta lock down those leaks . gl .

when you use a mobile proxy it doesn't matter if your phone connects to the internet via wifi or cellular data. the proxy tunnels your traffic through the proxy server's ip regardless of your local connection method. the only thing that changes is speed and stability.

wifi is usually faster and more stable, cellular data might drop or be slower depending on signal. on iphone you can only set proxy in wifi settings but you can use apps like Shadowrocket or a VPN profile to route cellular traffic through a proxy too. for tiktok specifically just use wifi with the proxy configured, it works fine.
