I've been thinking about putting Google Analytics on my main site. Is this a good idea or not? I'm a little leery of it. But, I would also like some better statics about my site and its visitors.

I use Google Analytics on almost any of my websites, there is no tool that is equal to Analytics when it comes to features.
If you only need a simple counter there are a bunch of other tools you can choose though. (eg. Piwik)

What are you currently using?

For wordpress, I used WP Statistics plugin. It's lightweight and fast. Still look at GA of course for monitoring the site, especially bounce rate.

No doubt, You should use Google Analytics for your website tracking.

This is the best one, So don't wait for it. Do implement right a way.

I'm currently using server stats and that's it.

I can't ever imagine myself working without Google Analytics. Do it OP! Don't over-think it; use it and learn your way around it. I suggest taking up Google Analytics free courses by Google so you can master the platform. Plus, you get a Google Analytics certificate too which you can flaunt on your resume, lol.

Google analytics is way better now than it was a few years ago. There is live traffic that woopra used to do..but with Google its free. Plus with Google you get so many benefit s like market segment data, shopping habits, and loads of demographics. So ya def put Google analytics. Only downside is that they want you to buy Google ads to see if you are getting traffic from Google. Its a bit weird.

But they will show traffic from bing, yahoo etc by keyword. But if the traffic comes from Google it won't display the keyword the user searched for to get to your website.

If you really wanna track traffic status/sources, GEO locations, profitable keywords and other crucial info regarding your website, then using "GA" is a must OP.

i hate google
so i dont use any google tools
try using yandex metrika. New interface its great

I put Google Analytics on my site yesterday. I read that it takes 24-48 hours to show stats. Does anyone know if this is accurate? I've had it on for about 12 hours, but it doesn't show anything. I can see something when I click Real-Time, but that's it for now.
