As a newbie just wanted to ask—how much does using AI-generated content affect SEO these days?

Also, does anyone else notice that the AI tends to generate really similar content even when you change the prompt slightly? Feels like I’m getting the same content every time.
Any tips on how to make AI content more unique or safer for long-term SEO? Thanks in advance!

It's not really the same content... but it does have patterns no matter what prompts you use.
People have gone mad with AI writing so it all look very similar.
AI content can be decent but it really lacks this personal/human touch... well, it's just a machine.
 
AI generated content can rank well if it's high quality, original, and helpful, but Google may penalize low-value, repetitive, or spammy content, yes, AI often repeats itself if prompts are too broad, to make it more unique try using specific prompts, add personal insights, restructure outputs, and always edit for clarity, depth, and human tone mixing AI with your voice is key for long term SEO.

Please describe it in more detail for the AI. Usually, I only refer to it and then revise it to fit, AI is a machine, so you shouldn't rely on it completely.
 
Depends. Sometimes i can hurt, sometimes it dont. I have been ranking super good with AI content. I think what you need to do is to prompt it in a way so its written by a human and make some personal touches and your good to go with your AI content.

Matter is not AI content. problem is repetition that AI do. So make your query unique & it'll rank high
 
here’s my take on ai content based on what i’ve seen. google has a massive database of info on almost every topic. it basically knows everything.

if your content doesn’t bring anything new or useful to the table - just a rehash of stuff that’s already been repeated 1000 times online - google will likely avoid it or even refuse to index it.

but if the content is unique (and there’s actual search demand for it), or if it’s rarely covered, or presents something fresh, you have a real shot at ranking well.

ai content by nature is derivative. that’s why it often ranks poorly. it’s not about google “detecting” ai - it’s about the lack of originality and usefulness.

why would google index yet another article on how to cook scrambled eggs when it already has 10k versions that fully satisfy user
intent?
 
Content utilizing AI - either completely, partially, or on a minor basis, has no baring at all on SEO.

Stop thinking in terms of "Will AI content rank".

Instead focus on things such as; does the content you're about to upload add value, does it have a unique angle, is the word count on par or better than the top 10 SERPS, is it formatted well, have you manually reviewed it for repetition and inaccuracies? Etc etc.

Dogsh!t quality AI content, or partial AI content, is exactly the same as dogsh!t quality hand written content. Just like high quality AI content, or partial AI content, is exactly the same as high quality hand written content.

Drill this into your mind. Google places the square root of zero on whether content is AI or handwritten, they have no bias. What they do factor into ranking algo decisions is the end product - irrespective of how it was created. Google themselves have prioritized AI automated search results at the top of most informational search results in recent times. There is no AI content crackdown. However, there definitely is a crackdown on low-quality, spammy, regurgitated and lazy content - in all its forms.

Don’t expect AI to write full content in five minutes. You must set the tone and structure before writing. You also need to edit the article.
 
Yes it does. It generates content that is already in the google searches of that keyword i.e. not providing any usefulness to the search.

It requires manual human intervention to make sure the content is not plagiarized and is unique to the search.

Using AI-generated content can be safe for SEO, as long as it's high-quality, original, and helpful to users. Google doesn't penalize content just because it's AI-generated , they care more about value, relevance, and authenticity.

Treat AI as a starting point, not the final product.

Try to use detailed, specific prompts (e.g., target audience, tone, examples).

And don't forget to combine with manual editing
 
AI-generated content can improve SEO if it is edited for quality, uniqueness, and EEAT, but generic, unedited output runs the risk of ranking lower or being flagged by platforms (e.g. Reddit). Google values helpful, user-centric content, so editing and optimization should be prioritized.
