is using a social locker bad for the user experience

it's all in the title. will it just piss the reader and make him close the page or they'll just hit a like button to read. also for someone who wants to look authoritative is it good?
 
Personally I don't like them because I don't want anyone knowing what I'm reading but if your page has good content and you lock a key piece it works great.
 
OP if you lock the entire content on a page, then it's of no use. You can lock something that interests your readers. Like a guide or some valuable stuff.
 
thanks for the reply. how about just a popup to like my facebook page that they can close if thay want to??
