I’m a designer worked with MNCs and start up.
Right now the shift is happening. If you are looking to get into UX by a bootcamp don’t do it. Get in by studying bachelor or masters in related fields. Right now the market is flooded with bootcamp grads.
Shortage in real high end UI designers is there, not slopping designers are valued at this market.
I would suggest to start with core UI, Interaction design, showcasing UI animations etc will grab eye balls on your profiles.
If you are getting into product design, learn surfaces of product management as well.
Knowing design system is a plus, no not the UI kits. Why and why not of design system components how it is going to help, change the over product experience.
Next is I see people branching into VR XR design as well which seems to be good option once you have a grasp of product design.
AI replacing not going to happen, but definitely going to help you present better. Common UX patterns etc etc, research data you can get it easily now, analysing data also all UX tools now have AI which saves alot of time.
AI can build very common and average UI. But can’t build anything beyond that require human intervention, eg: based on data you get. But definitely AI will help you explore different directions.
Overall Saturated field but you can stand out if you try a little hard.
