is twitter too saturated?

I just started my very first twitter campaign a week ago ; adding thousands of people and expecting them to follow back. so far I got about 20% success rate on getting followed back so every 100 people I follow 20 of them follow me back.
As far as selling products on twitter It seems like it is saturated , but if you are looking up for visitors to your sites it is a good tool !

I think everything has the possibily of getting saturated.. ALL marketing techiniques will be sold and resold again.. Whats new today will be resold tomorrow.. It will not work as effectivily of course.. It takes a little ingenuity and creativeness.. When twitter finds a way to properly monetize its traffic, then the Internet Marketing money will surely dwindle, again much like facebook, and myspace..

Twitter isn't. But your account maybe, meaning, too many followers are marketers and it's like people peddling the same stuff everyone has access to. The better accounts are the ones that are niche and content based. I just a send a bunch of articles to my account and tweet once in a while. I must admit that there are too many people trying to sell stuff, directly or indirectly and all the time. That gets old fast.

For everyone saying Twitter is dead...
Well not yet it's not. There is some huge money being made there and the reason I quote the reply ABOVE is because it's ALL IN THE FOLLOWING.
For every 100 of your AUTOMATED FOLLOWS to get them to follow you back, I specifically target ONE real follower for a specific niche.
That one REAL FOLLOWER is probably worth at least a couple of hundred of your automated follows and followers..
My nephew has been wanting me to teach him IM for a couple of years now... So I just had him create a Twitter account the other day to get started as it IS the fastest way I know TODAY to start making some money online.
I won't tell you the niche but all I had him do after we built the Twitter page was perform a specialized search for "tight chest" -- then read the actual tweets and if the Twitter user was really experiencing a tight chest, follow them.
Why? Because his Twitter account promotes an affiliate program that will help this user that had a tight chest all day... LOL.
So over the last 2 days, my 15 year old nephew has followed almost 300 Twitter users with "tight chest" and of course several other specific keyword phrases. His 2 day old account now has 179 followers and he's sold 3 products to Twitter users with a "tight chest" -- just under $100.
I'm pretty sure if a 15 year old can do it, anyone can do it.
It's all in WHO you follow... At least for now.

I agree. When Larry Page (cofounder of Google) was pitching their first investor - before Google was even officially a company - he said something pretty profound. He said "I'm not sure what the revenue model will be - but I can tell you that search is the only time that you tell a computer exactly what you're looking for, and there has to be a way to make money from that".
Well, Twitter is the only time that you tell a computer exactly what you're doing, feeling, or thinking...and to steal a phrase from Mr. Page....there has to be a way to make money from that.

I'm glad you mentioned Google because seriously... Google has CHANGED the Internet... Through consistent use of Google, people have learned and ARE LEARNING and GROWING ACCUSTOMED to THINGS being as relevant as possible.

I still haven't figured out how the hell Twitter plans to make money. Unlike Google, most of their users are disconnected from the site, posting from a phone or PDA. Sure, google can be accessed remotely, but the majority of users go to their website. Twitter, not so much.
How the hell do you make money off a site nobody visits? It seems like a problem for them.

Was looking into going into Twitter but kinda doubtful now...
my own personal issue with twitter is that too many people are sending nothing but affiliate links out with no reason. I do however follow people that are interesting and post good tweets and do end up on their sites and probably end up clicking affiliate links from time to time.

yeah, I have ab. 5,000 followers, but my main purpose now is not to monetize it, I want to build a huge follower base in my niche. There are many spammers among my followers, but it helps to rank my profile higher: the more followers I have the more it visible to my targeted audience.
Every day I get 20-30 new followers interested in my niche. I don't know how they find me, maybe via twellow or using my niche related keyword in twitter search (yeah, I have my niche keyword in my twitter username).
Majority of these followers are another webmasters (in my niche), so maybe they are spammers too (but not in the IM field), but I see how it's possible to build a strong relationships with a few industry key figurers.

I'd like to say that if there is a will there is a way. It doesn't matter how saturated (or unsaturated) a medium is, if you think outside the box you will find a way to make money. I have used many tactics on this forum and while I haven't made a fortune yet. I've realized one thing. Every single time I tried a tactic I ran into road blocks, or pitfalls. A true internet marketer finds his/her way around the obstacle and gets to the goal. Those of you who say twitter is dead, I think you haven't tried hard enough.....and you are probably the people who give up after your first 10 accounts get banned. lol (happened to me in my second day on twitter but I rebounded and now have close to 10,000 followers over 10 accounts.) Be smart and you can get there. Target the people your trying to sell to. Be as real as possible and you'll make some money. Combine methods, and add methods....The more things you have working for you the richer you'll get! Don't give up because someone told you twitter is dead, it's only dead if you believe it's dead.

You can't oversaturate a market with a good product so just pick your products carefully.

Yeah I really hate that stuff. If this keeps up then the whole world would just hate using social media all together.
These business marketers just don't get it because they've never heard of this guy and how he actually made money using social media without ever promoting an affiliate link.
