Would you be willing to share a few of your secrets?
I spent a few weeks messing around with Twitter, ended up with 10 accounts each with 1,000+ followers but these all converted terribly. I spent some more time on a handful of accounts targeting real people - making sure to follow people who didn't have lots of followers, mass-following people who were following people only following 10-15 others (wait, did I really just say that?), etc. These accounts amassed much fewer followers but the CTR was much higher, yet conversions were still practically nonexistant.
I was just using Flashtweet at the time, can you share what automated tools you're using? I'd be willing to give Twitter another shot if it can be automated cheaply.

I thought about this for a few days, and was hesitant but decided to give away one of my techniques. I'm not saying anything super-new here, but I a) scale it and b) pay close attention to details that make massive differences. I won't disclose a niche that I am targeting, but I will show the basic principle. Also, I use automated software that I wrote to do all of this on a large scale. You could probably either a)buy or b) find a programmer in India to write you similar things.
Pay-per click rocks in the twitter world. CPA has its place as well, but PPC is where the money's at. The only problem is that you can't put adsense, which is by far the overall highest paying PPC program out there, on Twitter, right? Well, you almost can. Like most things, the devil's in the details but I'll show what I can.
Let's say you want to promote Dui Attorneys. This is a relatively high-paying niche. You won't get the $25/click that these guys are paying google, but $1-$2/click average isn't bad (and you'll the the occasional http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/adsense/88634-27-click.html here and there). At this rate you can yield $500-$1,000/day from adsense easily with enough twitter traffic.
When promoting Adsense pages with twitter, remember that actual direct "whip out your Visa" sale conversions are low. This means you want to pick a niche where a "conversion" wouldn't necessarily be a sale - more like filling out something. Attorneys are one of these niches, but there are others. Why? Many sites, especially those forking over $10+/click, use Google Analytics to report conversions back to google. Basically, they put the analytics javascript on a confirmation page after you've done whatever the site considers a conversion - an order confirmation page, a "thank you for submitting your information page" etc. Google tracks this and shares it with the adsense system. Generally, the higher your conversion rate, the better paying ads you will get on your site (there are other factors that affect this too, such as search volume for your keywords on a particular day, but higher conversions will generally translate to higher overall profits in adsense). When a huge paying ad comes up as available in the Adsense system, they go first to the sites that a) have the highest CTR and b) have the highest conversion rates.
1) Create 1000 twitter accounts for your DUI Attorneys. With the right tools this can be done in an afternoon. Scrape the web for pictures of professional looking people - you only need 50 or 60 for the 1000 accounts. Use software that auto-customizes the accounts. In this case you want to leave the location out, since we want to appeal to as many people as possible. Have the software upload a profile picture of one of your professionals, an "About Me" link to a redirect script on a site that YOU control (I'll get to this in a minute), and a bio that says "I am an attorney specializing in criminal DUI defense. To visit my blog or get FREE tips and advice from me, click the link above" or similar.
2) The "about me" links should be random as in hxxp://mysite.com/123 - use a different one on each profile. You should have URL rewriting enabled on your server so that the site will forward any page requested (like 123 or 456) will all be redirected to the same page. That way if twitter bans one account, they won't be able to easily root out the rest of them. NEVER direct link to an adsense-supported page (or even the same domain) from twitter. You start making money, that's one of the first places they look to see if you're spamming links. DO NOT use bit.ly or other shortnening/forwarding services that are outside of your control. They are getting keen to all the twitspam and have started taking people to a "This site has been blocked for spamming" page for many urls. Always filter through a redirect script. You may want to make your redirect script javascript based. This will cut down on the many, many bots running around twitter ever getting to your actual adsense page, which will increase your CTR on ads, and ultimately your profit.
3) Your page doesn't have to be much. Make sure you have a title about DUI attorneys, etc and some content below. Make sure to use an adsense color scheme that blends in with your site - you want the ads to simply look like links. Always make sure that the ONLY thing "above the fold" on your page is adsense links. You're looking for clicks - nothing else. Above the fold means that people have to scroll to see anything else. Done correctly, this can make your CTR skyrocket. 4) Use an auto-tweet program to post random stuff to each of your 1,000 attorneys (you have a whole firm!). Keep it under 50 per day, and no desperate sounding "Visit my page!" type things. Scrape the postings of other attorneys on twitter, and use them in your auto tweets. Maybe "DUI Laws and you: http://mysite.com/123". Do not include a link in more than 10% of your tweets.
5) Auto DM people. I've heard complaints that there isn't software out there for this - I use my own and never looked so I don't know, but you can have it written on the cheap if you want. I'm considering putting mine out there - we'll see.
I'm not a fan of "thanks for the follow!" spam. I'm more of a "I was looking at my list of followers, and thought I would say hi. How's your day going? If you ever need some free legal advice, just contact me" kind of guy. But then, I like to make money so I'm weird that way.
6) Follow, unfollow. Again, automate it. Try to keep it under 250 follows/250 unfollows per day per account. In a few weeks you'll have several hundred thousand followers across the 1000 accounts. You can DM most of them at will, because they're spread out over so many accounts - you won't run into Twitter's daily DM limits.
That's one way to make some serious, life-changing cash. As I said, the devil's always in the details. If you don't do your adsense page right, your CTR will suck. DM too often or with too spammy a message, and you've lost your credibility. Tweet "going to the liquor store with some friends" and you're toast. But this method alone will easily give you tens of thousands of dollars per month if you apply it correctly.
