Is Tumblr alive at all?

Of course

Tumblr is super underrated.
It's got a very niche userbase and it's a goldmine if you know how to leverage the traffic from it.
Very little moderation too, so you can get away with a lot of things other platforms long restricted.

yes still using it for client's web 2.0 link building.

what a lot of people don't realize, it's one of the few web 2.0 places left where post links are ********, so it's super easy to sculpt DA with them.

Depend on your website content, if your content is particularly well-suited to the Tumblr then it may make sense to post there and try to get traffic from there.

It's kind of a ghost town these days. You need to make use of the tags so that people can find your posts when they search, otherwise you're just posting into the void.
but still it's only until someone with a lot of followers reblogs your post that you'll really be seen and gain some followers.

There's also a new paid feature now, Tumblr Blaze, which guarantees your post to be seen by a certain amount of people depending on how much you pay.

If you're able to still get traffic from it I'd say it's worth it.

The metric is still pretty scary even nowadays, no idea how much percent of bot traffics of it.

Yes, surprisingly it's still alive. Of course it' not used that much but has a lot of users. Maybe it's because it doesn't have too many influencers and ads like the others and that makes it special for some people.

In my opinion, Tumblr has no traffic nowadays, but its not dead, still alive.

I've never used it as a traffic source. It's just not a fit in my niche. I have like forty tumblrs I use for seo. You can still get links and embeds. I picked up all the tumblrs I have around 2015 or 2016 when the platform started to fall off. There were a lot of expired tumblrs out there with legit backlinks. It was easy picking. I've had to do some GSA link building to keep some of them afloat but google indexes them and they appear in GSC. I haven't looked in a while but I bet there are still some good expired tumblrs to pick up.

They aren't as valuable as they used to be when tumblr moved from letting you post nofollow links to referrals but embeds and profile links are still gold.
