If I translate articles in english to my native language in a third party translator (Not from google) is it possible to get penalized.

The process is the following:
  1. Find article in english
  2. Translate to my language
  3. Change things to make sense
  4. Optimize for the keywords I want
  5. Delete or add some sections
  6. Run it through a plagiarism checker and make sure it is 100% original
Is there any danger in doing this?

Yes, read an article once where google has algorithms to detect this. Can't find it.

I think that you are save, as long as you add 10-20% new stuff to the content.
Just look at big&small news websites all around the world--they typically publish the same news, about the same politicians/celebrities/athletes. Sometimes they do not even change anything on the article. And they are all indexed and doing fine.

Not a big issue in my opinion as you're not dealing with the same language as you copied, for publication. You could try randomizing a number of articles in English and translate it after rephrasing the whole sentences to make sense.

I am doing that a lot and there is no issue ( for the moment ) but I am afraid in a close-futur Google will detect it and penalized me.

So now, I spin the article before translating, it's 100% original :)

Spin with a good spinner. Then translate it in your own language.
But if you run AdSense, I do doubt about monetization lasting. It may offense!

Are you using any tool to automate te spinning?

For long-term stuff (at least), I personally wouldn't do something like that.

I'd avoid playing with the Big G and the authors of the articles.

Use copyscape and that type of tools to help you out. Not only for the scenario that Google manage to detect the translation, but also, becuase some other people may have translated it, and you may be a replica in certain paragraphs that you may have left highly untouched.

You can do this translating articles from any language.

1. Translate the article into your language.
2. Spin the article
3. Edit it / rewrite it. Give it your personal touch. Make it as unique as possible
4. Add graphic elements to make reading more appealing (Custom pictures, infographics, quotes, videos, etc)
5. Pass the article through a proofread tool to make sure everything is perfect
6. Pass the article through a plagiarism checker tool to make sure you´re safe
7. Post the damn article
