is torrent in Germany illegal?

hi guys i heard two guys talking today and one of them said he went to a friends house in Germany and downloaded two torrent films and after he came back from Germany, his friend received a bill of like $950 for downloading films
so germany guys is this true?

I came from Germany. Torrent is here not illegel but Copyright Downloads is Illegal.

But Torrent in Germany is dead, Very few people still use it, today. One Click Hoster have taken over the leadership.

ok thanks but most of the files we share are copyright so why is some country so fucked up like that

Well, I know what I meant. I live in germany and a couple of years, a friend of mine had to pay a fine for using torrents/p2p. As Ratzi said, most are using one-click-hosters and it's very unlikely to get busted because of them. But also with torrents it doesn't happen very often. I guess your friend just had bad luck.

What do you mean by so fucked up like that? I think it's quite normal. You won't find a country in the EU that allows you to download copyright material lol.
