I see a lot of gigs in fiverr offering tweets to their 100,000 , 250,000, etc. real followers. I'm planning to order these gigs and write catchy tweets to drive traffic to my website. Do you think this will be effective or should I just purchase direct traffic? You might tell me why not try it so that you can find out. But I just don't wanna waste any money because I'm just starting to make money so I'm planning all my moves carefully.:( So if there was anyone here who tried this method, I want to hear your opinions. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.:)

I purchased a gig like that. It was a tweet to 250,000 followers and I got 19 clicks on my link......
 
Look at the feedback on the fiverr gigs, they are there for a reason. Some are not worth it, some are. You will find that many of these fiverr sellers own many large groups, they aren't just spamming links to the one group.
 
As others have said a lot of the times they're not real accounts. Even when they are real those guys are so bombarded that they rarely if ever click.

I bought a service similar to what you're saying here on Fiverr and out of 10.000 followers only 3 visited the site. Probably because the seller had many orders and the link got buried down. Anyway, I assume the 10k weren't real (or at least a major part of it).
 
Don't do it, I've brought tweets before and they're utter rubbish, they aren't real followers at all.
 
I think it's a waste of money.
 
Most traffic from twitter is junk. These sellers have fake accounts on their twitters. Any clicks you get are probably from the guy selling you the gig out of pity.
 
The only time twitter or facebook has bumped sales is when someone randomly tweets about your listing/product to their friends who share an interest. So if its a commerce site, it helps when a happy customer tweets a deal you have.

Otherwise, those large twitter accounts are just posting to a bunch of dead accounts in the same boat as the poster.
 
You're all right. I tried it and got my 5$ refunded. A total waste of time indeed. Lesson learned.
 
I think the most important is to understand twitter.
There are 3 kinds of persons using twitter:
1) Celebrities: Those are the one twitter is made for. When you are a famous singer, you have fans who can't wait to know the color of your today's underwear. When they tweet "buy my CD", they see sales skyrocketing from that tweet. Twitter is working for them.
2) Spammers: Those who are tweeting affiliate links and CPA of all kind on a daily basis. They are not making huge amount of money because this MAY lead to a very few click and even fewer sales if any, bringing few cents...I'm part of them for one of my T account with 25K followers. I tweet once a day and make about $1/month.
3) All of the others people: nobody cares about knowing that my neighbors is making pasta for lunch next monday. They are wasting their time without knowing it. They just want to do what the others are doing but without knowing what is the purpose of it. They don't make a cent from Twitter. I'm part of them with my job site, real and genuine followers. No money whatsoever from it.

You are better off researching niche twitter accounts of authority websites and the like, contacting the account owner personally and negotiating a fee to tweet out a link. Second thread I'm mentioning them, but buysell ads has a tweet section; Paris Hilton is 4k+ a tweet, but there are legitimate niche sites with a loyal following of real professionals with 10k followers you can get for $10. Hell, if you negotiated a fee with a twitter account hold, used that as a reference and cut out the commission of buysellads you can get engaged users exposed to your link, you get 10+ clicks and it would be a decent return of investment; not great but it's twitter.

And if you don't think contacting a twitter account owner works, Google the Sarah Phillips story and engage in the dark underground world of twitter meme accounts.
