I wanted to make a site like

wanted to know if anyone knew if this was wordpress and what they were using? It looks like it, anyway to check?

Yeah it's wordpress. Do a View Source on the page, you'll see links to wp-include directory that are indicative of WP. Also shows some of the plugins they are using (e.g. tweet blend).

A quicker/easier way would just do this -
domain.com/wp-admin

you see a wp admin login page, then viola, it's wordpress.

Thanks but also was asking if anyone knew what theme or plugins they were using or something close to it

Yes its wordpress, you can see the pagesource and themes and plugin can be maybe identified in the code
