Is this What you Do?

I do a ton of PPC CPA Stuff and am just getting started with Media Traffic. I know a guy that makes a living doing PPV and here is what he does:

rotate 5 offers and use site sniper pro to scrape a bunch of domains from Google, Yahoo, and MSN that rank for high traffic keywords and strip the directory pages off the domain and only bid on domain.com. Then he has some custom software (i am having some built for me as well) put thumbnails of those pages up on one page and quickly scan all the homepages and delete the ones that are irrelevant. Let Me give you an example:

about.com/widgets when stripped yields about.com which would not be relevant to any offer so you dump it whereas as getautoloantoday.com (made that up) the whole site would pretty much be related to your offer if you get what i mean. Bid on the targets without quotes and you will pop up no matter what pages people visit.

Has anyone tried this? I will tell you this: if you just pull the entire domain with the sub directories in tact you will not get any traffic because that's what I did first but am not getting many impressions.

People are so quiet about PPV because they are making so much money and fear the competition. That's why this forum is dead and when you search for stuff on Google you get nothing. PPV markets can become quickly saturated due to the fact that they only show the highest bidder most of the time. I have talked to people they kill it with PPV and they won't even tell you where they are buying traffic (bunch of pussies). I don't give a fuck though. I'm not afraid of competition. There are millions of domains out there so be creative...

Why give away a secret which they've worked hard for?
That's not being a pussy, that's being smart, unlike you, who's posting other people's methods just to get a few "thanks".

I don't understand what you mean by pulling up thumbnails of the sites and then put them on one page... is this page of thumbnailed websites what you popup to visitors???

Yeah your method of stripping domains is pretty standard stuff.. but if you are targetting geico.com for an auto insurance you will get your ass reamed with vaseline mixed with jalepeno peppers cause your untargeted ad will pop for people looking for home/motorcyle/RV/etc insurance instead of only geico.com/auto etc..

Nothing I said was a secret. This is the same shit that I think everyone is doing as far as I can tell and also essentially what was taught in PPV formula and since this is a ppv forum I thought that I would throw it out there and see if anyone had any suggestions ideas, or experiences or anything or if people were doing something different etc since not much as happening in here.

In addition, I have seen a bunch of people state that they think PPV is too hard or it doesn't work and since PPV formula is hard to get and there is little useful information on the subject that is readily available, I thought I would start a discussion about it and reiterate some things I have seen from the course, the guy I know and also from other posts in this forum and also to emphasize that there are definitely people killing it on PPV. Traffic sources and methods are not secrets and should be shared in forums and at events since everyone benefits when there is discussion and dialog. Niches, offers, and campaign specific data I would never expect people to share.

@Angel of Wealth Anyway, yeah I think you are right for the most part to stay away from really general sites like myspace and stuff like that but I think high traffic and highly relevant sites like Geico.com might be good to bid on, although you are right that you may want to keep subdomains and directories on sites like that so you don't get raped. If you found something that converts on a site like this, then you would be very wealthy. From what I have heard, the trick with PPV is to always start your budget at the lowest amount they allow no matter what since the impressions can come hard and fast and you could burn through 100s of dollars in an hour. I, however, have the opposite problem. I am not getting hardly any impressions even bidding on the straight domain names for websites that rank on high traffic keywords. Anyone have any thoughts on that? I think it is the demographic of the market I am in since some demographic just don't install adware at a level where you will get any traffic no matter what you bid on.

The thumbnails are to be able to quickly scan the content of each site you are bidding on in order to see if they are relevant since when you go to the 5th or 6th page of results sometimes they get pretty irrelevant.

The best tool I could find for PPV is free and can be downloaded at mattharward.com . It is called Laser Url Targets and strips domains, exports in media traffic (and other) formats and also will scrape the related domains from quantcast and alexa. You guys should check it out. It is better than Site Sniper Pro for PPV and it is free (it was created by the same guy).

yeah it could happened that if you are targetting something like canes I doubt many empty nest geezers would be installing adware to get free screensavers and shit on their own..

I personally found PPV formula a waste..all he did was describe the networks, ask the students for inputs and throw in some half assed methods that he even said he just came up with during that week of the seminar...

Yeah I am with you on that. Do you know any better courses? Rotate some offers and bid on domains is really all the course is.

I am playing around with that software I mentioned and I can see why its free. Half the functions don't seem to work and its pretty clunky. Site Sniper Pro is pretty slick though especially for placement campaigns on ad words.

My guy is creating some software that will scrape the related domains from Alexa and the "audience also visits" from quantcast. Have you tried bidding on those?
