I just came across various web 2.0 blog posts.

I found in some post two keywords targeted in a single post.

But one backlink given to Wikipedia or any high PR blog website for a keyword.

And other backlink given to main website for another keyword.

So is this type of method helps in any way? Why the person backlinks to Wikipedia type website from his/her blog?

    What your thoughts?

I do this. A couple years ago I was approached by a SEO firm that represented one of the largest sports betting sites in the world. They asked for a paid backlink within one of my posts on a non-commercial PR4 sports blog that I own.

The instructions that they gave me were very specific and I was told to link to both a popular site like wikipedia or espn and then their client's site in the first two paragraphs with the anchor text they provided.

I figured their client's rankings clearly speak for themselves. I have been using this technique on all of my sites ever since.

Interesting concept... Basically putting your site in the same category as a high authority site for being equally helpful.

You know what, I actually seen this on a sites backlinks when I was doing some spy work on my competitors. I'll tell you this, the site is ranking first page for a very, very competitive keyword and it only has about 300 backlinks where the other sites below and above it in the serps have 50k+ backlinks.

I never put 2 and 2 together before on how he was ranking so high with so little but I would bet money this is the reason. I'll make up a visual diagram of that sites SEO strategy and put it in this thread because I believe a lot of people will learn from it.

I'll be back with that diagram, once I create it...

Here is the diagram as promised...

Other things to take into consideration:

    • The Domain.com's aren't even a full site (ie, no template, wordpress, nothing), just a plain page with 1 article on it and some links through-out the article.
    • The domains are all sent to the same name server so they all go to the same web server.
    • The domains have a timed redirect, I don't know what type of redirect they are using, as I can't see anything within the page code that does the redirect. The redirect doesn't go to the money site, it goes to a relevant site that is like a mini money site just to get people visiting that domain from a long tail keyword or what ever, to a money site.
    • The Domain.com's, from what I've checked are pr0 with no links coming in except from the sister sites in the wheel.

Pic should be self explanatory. Ask questions if needed.

Thanks for the image, its very well explained. But it would be something that I would take up in my second tier work. Right now its simple link building that's taking all my time.

Some people has the idea that links to a relevant site gives some aditional power and the search engines gives more power to this buffer site and seems form them les spammy that other site.
I've read this idea lots of times and use for my self. They also seems to do more difficult to detct linkwhels that if only make links to the same site, that it's easily detectable.

It looks somewhat authoritative. That's the whole idea.
