Based on the attached ?

what is your opinion?

This is a well establish PR 4, 22k backlinks, 5 year old site

I 301 redirected a smaller site to it about a year ago

now that these updates hit, rankings have tanked.

Should I keep trying or give up and start fresh?

Jesus christ that image is small. For now, focus on removing the bad links and getting some valuable ones and see if it changes anything.
