Is this SERP dance or penalize?

this site is a 3-month-old site, eCommerce niche. started building links in Month 2, got a few strong links to the homepage.

the last 1 month, shows a positive increase with impression and clicks, google indexed fine too.

Search console shows improvement every day for 30 days, the main keyword poped to page 2, at about 17 positions on Feb 14th. (I know there's an unconfined google update around Feb 10 to 13)

last few days, we placed 4 more links, and then, impression drops and many keywords drops (search console data) past 4 days, (today is Feb 18th) all keyword ranks have dropped a lot, (from around 15 to 40 position to 100+)

also, by searching "site:mysite.com" the hompage isn't the no.1 position. (is that a sign?)

so I am wondering if it's normal or it's a sign of penalty?

indexation has being ok, no big drop.

You should worry about "site:mysite.com" the hompage isn't the no.1 position.

All other things are normal.

I think it is a penalty but not 100% sure. Nobody can tell you exactly about penalty or not.

The smartest thing would be to mention and discuss about your site on google/bing webmaster forum.

Since your site is pretty new, it's probably just a dance.

What do you mean anything shows up on google search console or not?

Well... hmm... first off, impression for sure on the decline for about 3 days, today Feb 18th, it's about 500 impressions (worldwide) the peak was Feb 12th about 5000 impression on that day.

clicks drops for sure, and average rank for keywords are dropping too

Yeah that was my biggest concern right now, it's obvious google is "tasting" that new links or content changes I think, but this happened before too, and it went back to no. 1 position by itself. so I don't know if it's a concern yet.

Then it's not penalty. 3 month old website is still fresh. It's probably settling in.

thanks for your input, so I have heard that the stronger the links the bigger volatility, is that a good sign now then?

Have this problem too on several sites, but I think is some sandbox shit, try to search without site:, just "yoursite.tld" with commas , if index come up then you are fine.

Yeah, "mysite.com" WITH commas shows no.1 position.

From reading your statement I would have to say and this is my thought , your looking at a dance in a time frame where lately it seems G has been rocking the boat. Give it time do not make changes sit and wait.
