Hello everyone!
Since English is not my native, I might sound strange sometimes, and I apologize for it.
My name is Emil, and I want to start an affiliate website which I targeted to make at least 3k per month.
I am in SEO 2 years for now. It took me a lot of hard labor until I gradually realized what works what not in SEO. Although there still a lot to do and many to learn, I believe I can start an affiliate website and make some money.
I really don't know who will be interested in my story but, I have started learning the web industry when one of my friends asked me if I could help him by sharing regular posts on the FB page of his business website.
After a month, I realized that no matter what I do, I can attract any attention with my posts and I needed to do something more. I made a little research and downloaded a book by Gary Vaynerchuk, where I made myself familiar with digital marketing.
Later on, my friend asked me if I could handle WP. Although I had no idea what was that I agreed. It was his business website. I downloaded some courses from Udemy and learned how to handle WordPress. And immediately got access to start writing blog posts.
After posting 2 months, 4 times per week regularly, I realized that no matter what I write, how often I produce content, people just give a damn about it.
It was when he told me I should better learn some SEO in order to drive traffic to his website. At that time, he got traffic mainly from Google Ads and since he had stopped advertising a long ago, there was almost no traffic to the website.
Again, I downloaded some courses related to SEO and learned a little bit. At the same time, I learned how to use Yoast. It is a great tool, and I saw that I could rank what I wanted with it. All I needed to follow Yoast and place the keywords in certain places.
However, the problem was that I was ranking for the "keywords" which people gave a s#it. For example, I could see that I am ranking #1 for "employment increased 3% in august". However, I didn't know that it makes no sense unless no one is searching for that term.
And it was when I started turning every stone upside down to see what I can do that drive traffic to the website. I learned that I needed to find real keywords that people actually search for... And long story short, I came across Ahrefs tutorials...
After studying it over and over, hours and hours again - because this was a completely new thing for me and every damned term sounded strange - I finally, one day ranked for one of the keywords of my competitors. And then I slowly started to understand what SEO is.
I learned On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO and still learning one hour per day to keep my knowledge fresh. Although it took me more than a year and a lot of hard work to understand the basics of SEO, I managed to increase website traffic from 500 per month to 20.000 per month.
Now, here is the thing... Recently, after familiarizing myself with BHW, I was thinking if I could also make money with a website. I know SEO, I can make keyword research and drive traffic, so WHY NOT?
What do you think? Can I do that? Can I really become someone that can earn money through blogging?
You know, in the place of the world where I am living, people work all day long from morning till night to bring some piece of bread to their table. A friend of mine who owns the website I am talking about is living abroad.
Therefore, working on a computer at home and earning money sounds very strange people living in this land. I know that I am capable of doing SEO, however, I am always discouraged by my friends, family and etc.
They are trying to prove to me that if I wanted to live, I should follow everyone's regular path and should focus on earning money in their traditional way... They are a lot, but, I am alone.
So, what do you think? Can I make it?
Thank you
