Hello everyone!

Since English is not my native, I might sound strange sometimes, and I apologize for it.

My name is Emil, and I want to start an affiliate website which I targeted to make at least 3k per month.

I am in SEO 2 years for now. It took me a lot of hard labor until I gradually realized what works what not in SEO. Although there still a lot to do and many to learn, I believe I can start an affiliate website and make some money.

I really don't know who will be interested in my story but, I have started learning the web industry when one of my friends asked me if I could help him by sharing regular posts on the FB page of his business website.

After a month, I realized that no matter what I do, I can attract any attention with my posts and I needed to do something more. I made a little research and downloaded a book by Gary Vaynerchuk, where I made myself familiar with digital marketing.

Later on, my friend asked me if I could handle WP. Although I had no idea what was that I agreed. It was his business website. I downloaded some courses from Udemy and learned how to handle WordPress. And immediately got access to start writing blog posts.

After posting 2 months, 4 times per week regularly, I realized that no matter what I write, how often I produce content, people just give a damn about it.

It was when he told me I should better learn some SEO in order to drive traffic to his website. At that time, he got traffic mainly from Google Ads and since he had stopped advertising a long ago, there was almost no traffic to the website.

Again, I downloaded some courses related to SEO and learned a little bit. At the same time, I learned how to use Yoast. It is a great tool, and I saw that I could rank what I wanted with it. All I needed to follow Yoast and place the keywords in certain places.

However, the problem was that I was ranking for the "keywords" which people gave a s#it. For example, I could see that I am ranking #1 for "employment increased 3% in august". However, I didn't know that it makes no sense unless no one is searching for that term.

And it was when I started turning every stone upside down to see what I can do that drive traffic to the website. I learned that I needed to find real keywords that people actually search for... And long story short, I came across Ahrefs tutorials...

After studying it over and over, hours and hours again - because this was a completely new thing for me and every damned term sounded strange - I finally, one day ranked for one of the keywords of my competitors. And then I slowly started to understand what SEO is.

I learned On-Page SEO, Off-Page SEO and still learning one hour per day to keep my knowledge fresh. Although it took me more than a year and a lot of hard work to understand the basics of SEO, I managed to increase website traffic from 500 per month to 20.000 per month.

Now, here is the thing... Recently, after familiarizing myself with BHW, I was thinking if I could also make money with a website. I know SEO, I can make keyword research and drive traffic, so WHY NOT?

What do you think? Can I do that? Can I really become someone that can earn money through blogging?

You know, in the place of the world where I am living, people work all day long from morning till night to bring some piece of bread to their table. A friend of mine who owns the website I am talking about is living abroad.

Therefore, working on a computer at home and earning money sounds very strange people living in this land. I know that I am capable of doing SEO, however, I am always discouraged by my friends, family and etc.

They are trying to prove to me that if I wanted to live, I should follow everyone's regular path and should focus on earning money in their traditional way... They are a lot, but, I am alone.

So, what do you think? Can I make it?

Thank you

You answered your own question :D.
You can do it, so start.

I know that I am capable of doing SEO, however, I am always discouraged by my friends, family and etc.
You don't really have to discuss with them, You can use this thread to talk about things. People who don't completely understand it will obviously think its hard and impossible.
Please make sure you have a stable job or something to support your finances for basic needs, make the blogging (at least at the beginning) more of a side project.
Good luck ! Will be following :)

There are a million people that make money through blogging.
People always think making money online is nonsense until they see my house, my car, etc and then go "Oh wow that's so cool, wish I knew how to do that"
Ignorance is ingrained in people and they are afraid of trying new things.
Don't let the mediocrity of others bring you down, you can make a much better living than 99% of your peers will with a "normal" job

For a long time, my inner circle of friends and family thought I was crazy for pursuing online business models they did not understand, they were always offering to help me find a job, which I rejected not because I was lazy but because I knew I wanted to stay focused and I saw that my work was not in vane. Whenever I needed cash I would take jobs nobody else wanted (which were usually harder but paid more) until one or more of my project were on track and making me enough money.

After a few years I managed to build a great life doing business online and nowadays they look at me with amazement and pride every time I share a new success (they still do not understand how I make money), so regardless of the skepticism of those around you stay focused and consistent in your work and all your efforts will payoff, just make sure you turn every mistake or hiccup into a learning experience so you are always moving forward and perfecting your skill-set to achieve the success you envision.

Based on everything you shared you will definitely make it and I assure you, if you put hard work into your endeavor you will enjoy greater success than you would in any regular job, with the added value of having the freedom to keep developing yourself and your business in your own terms.

I was there one day
so don't care about what they say and do what you are good in

It seems I know which countries you are talking about my friend ) yes you can earn that amount . You can see so many succes stories here

The reason a lot of people fail is that they refuse to learn, to try, and keep learning and growing. You are the opposite. Always maintain such a working attitude, sure you can make it bro.

Oh guys, I thank everyone of you personally hug you and shake your hands. I'm definitely going to start this journey and I believe, in every step of my journey , whenever I have difficulties I can ask you for help.

Thank you again

Yes, the job of blogger is not very popular yet because lot of people think we are not realist and that is a dream.

But the fact is it works, it needs a lot of work and motivation until to earn 1000$ per month but it is possible, I have done it you can do it but just remember in SEO you have to be patient with the results :)

I will look forward to this journey just because i found myself in everything you said. By your name i think you are from Romania like me and i know how everybody thinks. You either have a lot of money or you're broke. There's no middleclass. You are already above everyone who told you it's not possible to make it. I've been reading this forum for a couple of years but i haven't started something yet. But i plan to change that.

What are you promoting on the site? Amazon products?
