I have a English language website targeting expats in Spain.

I have the opportunity to write an article on a PR4 website in the same niche as my website but the PR4 website is in Spanish language.

So my article will be in Spanish, however my money site is in English...

Question: Is there any point writing these blogs? Do you think there will be a positive result? Will there be a negative result due to language?

NOTE: my website uses transposh to translate to Spanish...

Any help on this appreciated.

Well I have mostly english links pointing to my spanish website and everything is fine and dandy. So I don't see how doing the reverse can hurt(in your case.)

I have 2 on-going projects with this structure. I may help you with more advices if you want. But as main point you should to the following:
Use your English content in publishing on the blogs and the anchor should be related with the Spanish language - I found it very useful to use like this in other languages as well.
I hope this advise may help you

I would go for it and we cannot give you a great answer when you need to test it for yourself to see the results.
In internet marketing it is not always cut and dry and testing is necessary.
