Hey everyone,
About 98 days ago I launched my personal business website. Almost immediately I started building a diversified set of links such as guest posts, PBNs, Web 2.0s, local directories, social bookmarks, and more. I used a mix of naked URLs, generic anchors like click here and read more, as well as some partial match keywords.
What really surprised me was that Google did not index the site at all. I submitted the sitemap through Google Search Console and repeated everything I normally do on other projects, but nothing happened. For context, my last site was indexed and appeared on search results in less than a week.
At first I thought something was wrong. Then I came across a comment here on BHW where someone mentioned that Google is now more strict with new websites. Exactly 92 days later the site finally appeared on Google, but only the homepage was indexed.
Now here is the interesting part.
While waiting I continued building links and tracking the Domain Rating using Ahrefs. I know Google does not really use DR for rankings but I just needed something to show the links were working. Around day 60 the DR was still around 0.8.
Then about 36 days later the DR suddenly jumped from below 1 to 30. I was blushing but also very confused.
So I am asking:
1. Is it now common for new sites to take over 90 days before being indexed?
2. What could explain such a big increase in Ahrefs DR after staying low for so long?
Has anyone experienced something similar? I would appreciate your thoughts and insights.
