Is this method dead on google?

Hey everyone, loooong time listener first time...caller.

I can not, for the life of me, figure out what the term is for this SEO technique I believe we have all run into.

You're searching on google, usually a pretty shady/unpopular search you're performing and you notice some of the top links URLs have your search term dynamically inputted into the sites URL. And I know they're dynamic because sometimes if you misspell your search term the webpage URL even has the misspelling in it.


As you can see it even has my misspelled word in the URL. How can a script or anything grab the search term before the result is displayed...? Boggles my mind!

Is this still around? Is there a name for it? I'm actually working on a large white hat...ok grey-ish hat project and it's all based around this technique, if I knew what it was called or a starting point, or linked in the right direction I would be all set!

Usually the torrents type site have this feature. They still work on google. For example if a movie havent been released yet, and you search Unreleased Movie dvdrip axxo, you will get webpages with that query.

But I think even with this feature, it takes time to get on the top.

I think what you are talking about is simply a dynamic web site. From what I understand about those, search engines dont like them, but it makes setting up a site with many pages/products easier.

I think it works with previous searches recorded

I had a site with 60k/visitors daily, thousands of searches everyday on my site, I recorded every search and I put them on "searches log" page. It was Huge, I get +5000 pages daily.
(you can also use an algorithm to add misspelled version of the searches)

It worked at start... but after google don't like you

When a user types something into your search bar your site creates a new page for the search results. Google is indexing this page. A lot of webmasters try to stop google crawling their search function as it can cause some problems with the pages you specifically want to rank for a specific keyword.

It's nothing special.

More to say G may lower their main keywords juice.

Ah I see. This make sense that it works so well with torrent sites since, well, every torrent site will have a search bar. I guess it wouldn't really work for the project I wanted. I thought there was some way to intercept the search term before it was displayed.

My mind is not boggled anymore thank you guys.
