Is this method a waste of time?

I'm new to the social media advertising game so was looking to see if anyone has any success using this method.
I've basically found a product i want to promote via clickbank, find pages which relates to that product, write a comment including a short url to the offer im promoting then buy facebook likes so it shows up in the top comments.

Any advice to a noob in advertising on social media will also be greatly appreciated.
