I recently purchased a software, it was big size ;) Now when I paid for the paypal button, I landed in getting a torrentz link for that software !!!!!!!

Was it legal from the seller end ? I mean receiving payment for a torrent link in a zip file ? :yield:

Pros please help me. I am confused !!!

i do not think, it is legal.

Also, if he this software is owned by him, he would not even need to send you a torrent link.

So he must be selling someone's software.

Report him...

if he has a torrentz to sell, naturally it is not his own link.

you could argue that he was selling you the software and your too dumb or just couldn't find it....

either way hes still doing something illegal (which is not blackhat)

There are software owners that distribute his software in bittorrent. That's because bandwidth cost.

Just no for commercial software

if u paid with paypal, just open the dispute and say he use torrent to sell, u will surely get the money back and the software too. Thanks him for finding the software for u.

prolly false advertising on the other guys fault. Report him if you feel you got pwnzed

Where was the torrent hosted? How big was the file?
I'm not sure if it's a scam. If it's a huge file (a couple gigs), it might be cheaper for him to rent a torrent server than to upgrade his bandwidth.
I don't know, that would probably be the only reason, if he is actually legit.

If he was really selling something stolen, he could of just as easily downloaded the torrent himself, and hosted the files to be sold. So I don't see why that makes a difference, he was probably trying to save bandwidth using a private torrent, that only buyers could find.

That was a xbox game yeah, it was not really his i suppose. Thank you for your overwhelming support. I have filed a refund with paypal. ;)

it does sound very fishy and he probably ripped you off.. however, torrent technology is the most efficient file distribution platform on the planet. It wasn't originally created for the purpose of huge torrent sites distributing warez.. so the question is, what tracker did you get the torrent from? is the tracker operated by the seller? if its his own personal tracker then its probably a legit sale. if its a public tracker in any way hes obviously a sneaky bastard.
