No, you are not using direct domain name. You are adding extra text before the domain name. People are creating blogs using different names with these domains.

There are so many factors here. A lot of it will come down to how you plan to use the domain and if people will be confused by “11nba” vs. the actual “nba” website. Trademark law is a lot more complex than this and would need to be proved in a court. You should ask a trademark lawyer for their option. They will probably tell you not to use these types of domain names.

You also have to think what you will be using this website for ... if you want 20fifa to make a fifa coin generator for fifa than you can expect Google to unlist you and maybe get DMCA striked. If you want to blog about fifa than you are fine.

Copyright also covers parts of names, depending on what you use it for. It is easy for a company to make a copyright claim in these cases but then they may not go after every case. But when they do, they have high chances of winning the claim. Having said that, it is best to consult a domain and legal expert to give you the correct answer.

Unfortunately if your site gets big, you risk being taken down. Until it is small, nobody will care of messing with it.

For example, I created back in 2017 some WordPress plugins which recently got into legal trouble. One is publishing content to Facebook, for its naming, I used the letters FB together with the -omatic word ending in the plugin name (cannot write the full name, no promo intention here). Also, another plugin was for Instagram, named "Insta" with the word termination -matic.

In late 2021, I got contacted by Facebook attorneys to rename the plugins, or else...

I had to rename them and find some lame and unrelated names, as I was not allowed to use any of the trademarked words which are reserved by Facebook ( including FB, Face, Book, Insta, Gram and many more - full list here: https://www.facebook.com/brand/resources/meta/our-trademarks/ ). Also, I had to change the icons of the plugins, as they contains a small icon of Facebook and Instagram logo. For example, I was not allowed to use the upper case F letter on a dark blue background. They also claim trademark of this...

So, yeah... you can name your site as you wish, but if you name it similar to names the big guys have, if you blip on their radar, they will surely take you down...

as others mentioned, trademark law is very complex. you should contact an intellectual property attorney to get legal advice on this. you may be advised to choose other domains or to put some kind of disclaimer that’s reasonably easy to read that makes sure site visitors are aware that you’re not affiliated with the NBA or FIFA in any way. intellectual property cases are very arbitrary since every case is unique and up to interpretation by a judge or arbitrator. this is not legal advice, but i would also imagine that if those entities felt like you were infringing upon their intellectual property / trademark, their legal counsel would start off by sending you a cease and desist letter, hoping that would scare you enough to take down the site or change the domain. you most likely would get warned before getting hit with a lawsuit - lawsuits are very expensive. hope this helps, but i am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. please consult with an IP attorney to be safe, a free consultation might give you enough direction on how to move forward!

Ignore whatever the other members have told you because as soon as your site gets big NBA / FIFA will come after you no matter what. They will find a way to take you down, if you're generating coin like someone said FIFA will sue you for making money off their shoulders, if you're going to create a blog they'll sue you for damaging their reputation with negative opinions that you share on your blog and if you only share positive opinions they'll sue you for parasiting on their brand. They'll find a way to stop you

I think that depends on the domain name zone. If you aware of trademark existence you should be ready for possible risks and loosing your money.

You can't affix numbers or other phrases to a trademarked name and expect to get away with it. They'll claim the domain sooner or later.

If you use "11fifa", and your website will be about fifa/soccer...it's trademark. If you use "11fifa", and your site will be about astrology/anything else, non connected with fifa or soccer, it's not trademark.

It depends on what you want to do with it.
Do you want to open a blog on the subject subject to copyright or do you want to use the domain for something else?

This is trademark infringement. Generally, you're using their likeness to generate either sales/clicks/views and once you reach certain traffic levels/publicity their lawyers will find you.

Ultimately, I'd say it's not worth it.
