Is this illegal?

If you plan on using that picture for illegal means that it's most definitely illegal.

You have the benefit of the doubt of being : just someone who saw a pretty pic they liked and used it as an avatar , and not understanding fb rules about not making alts.
Ha! I'm sorry officer for driving 200km/h in the city, but you see, I did not understand what the sign "50" means. :D
Sure that will work in court... not really, it won't

There has only been a couple of answers in this thread that matter, 1 of which was mine :)

It's illegal copyright infringement.

It's illegal using adult content without complying to 2257 regulations for US citizens (photocopy of ID etc)

You can buy Legal content, that is licensed to you, and 2257 compliant.

I posted links to a couple of content providers already.

Will u ever get caught if you dont license content?? Probably not, but that wasnt the question. The question has been answered.

Everyone uses fake pictures. I see nothing wrong with it.

Just a guess but it is illegal if you use there images to monetize without there permission

Just make sure to don't make Facebook Ads with the pictures...

Yes it's probably illegal but it's definitely not identity theft, you would have to duplicate the whole bio and do something with that fake personality. Stealing pictures is just violating author's copyright.
