Say I used an image of a celebrity i.e Justin Bieber or someone else popular and placed it on a T-shirt and sold it via an online e store(obviously without the celeb's permission), would it be illegal?

thats not illegal unless you make justin bieber as gay or what so ever

Smh.. Yes this is illegal! damn man lol...

You will get life in prison! Don't do it!

Yes. It's illegal to use someones "likeness" for profit. For example, one company/person made Steve Jobbs bobbleheads. They were sued and lost because they used his "Likeness".

I think it's only the photographer that can sue you as they own the photo. Doesn't matter what the image is of.

There's a saying.... even in the army.

1) Do but don't get caught.

And also, another saying.

2) Cover your ass.

It could be a scapegoat or hiding your identity so that the prosecutors can't find your real identity if the first saying fails you.

So many wannabe lawyers in here. LOL. I suggest that you get an advice from a lawyer. I believe that this is illegal because you don't have permission to use their images, but I'm not a lawyer so I'm not so sure.

ask yourself this... if it's legal then why isn't everyone doing it?

in the meantime, google just-in beaver :D

If you sell it on the real roadside instead of online, you will become a millionaire in a week! Try it!

Just be ready to run like a 100-meter dasher first and then like a marathon champ if you see a police van turning into the street... :)

do it only if you think you can bank big with this else why take risk for the thing which will earn you only pennies...

His photos are available for editorial purpose only... hmm.. start a T-shirt newspaper (news published on t-shirt -- green concept, great for fellow travelers too; use recycled paper in place of cloth if you wish -- sell new image everyday!). This should be completely legal IMHO.

A Thief is never a thief until he is caught. Though it's illegal because you're using it without the permission of the photographer, but if you can prevent yourself from getting caught then go ahead with it. However, I think you have far better (legal) methods of using his pic. There's plenty of opportunity to make money in this segment.

Btw, people are crazy about JB, so you can make money out of those T-Shirts.

Cheers :)

It is illegal ITO law, but I don't think anyone would stop you doing what you just did, because after all, it will only boost their fan base!

You can use my picture if you like, I do not mind.
